First impressions of Arkadin:
- Very few people work in a broad range of areas; almost everyone is an expert in a specific field and has
strong confidence in their skill. Each team member has a great amount of responsibility.
Description of my experience:
After joining the team, I always tried to be a real member of Arkadin, and not be perceived as just the trainee
or intern. I always asked myself, «How I can contribute to Arkadin’s business?» That drove me to develop
an automation test suite (which was the project I was assigned to handle) designed to replace the former
time- and cost-consuming method, enabling tremendous new efficiency.
During the project, I faced many difficulties in order to proceed with it. At the beginning, I absolutely didn’t
understand how I could implement the required functions into the tool. I needed to design the tool from
scratch. I always tried to find the easiest way to manage it and finally found some new solutions to make it
possible. Even with these new solutions, I was still faced with the difficulty of simulating all of the necessary
sequences for the test scenario.
With great advice from my team members, and after lots of trial and error, I finally managed to complete my
project. During this one year project, I learned about the spirit of working together, about never giving up but
also about feeling no pressure, and being able to enjoy the work.
Along with the technical aspects, I also tried to introduce NTT Communication’s culture, organization, and
services to share what NTTCom is, as well as its strategy and goals, so that Arkadin people could be more
familiar with NTTCom even though Japan is so far away from here. At the same time, I learned about Arkadin’s
spirit, people, and products. I believe these activities are really important to create synergy between both
entities. Co-working with Arkadin’s developers, I realized that their skill is excellent, quite logical, and focused
on speed. I really enjoyed the work.
In the morning, the Arkadin day starts with everyone shaking hands, “bises” with the ladies, saying «Salut!”
and “Ca va?», and then chatting over a cup of coffee. I like this tradition. It is a good way of communicating
between team members; they discover they may be able to help each other with their tasks. Moreover, these
conversations bring out better ideas from each member to enable their work to be more attractive and innovative.
Upon moving back to NTTCom, I am keen to become a bridge between our two companies, leveraging my
experience in Arkadin so that we can innovate in the field and earn more revenue as ONE group.
