FINANCIAL REPORTING MANAGER – AFFINITY WATER LIMITED
Job Purpose
The Financial Reporting Manager is the line manager for the financial reporting team. The role of
Financial Reporting Manager is a management position within the business; this person will be an
internal point of contact for the business on matters of financial reporting.
The Financial Reporting Manager must be confident, at all times, with the financial numbers being
presented, whether budgets, forecasts or actuals, ensuring they are compliant with the relevant
GAAP. Detailed knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is also required as
we approach the company’s transition to IFRS.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:










To ensure the Company maintains appropriate financial records.
To take all internal and external financial reporting to the required standard of quality,
accuracy, efficiency and timelines. To ensure that variances on income, costs, cash flow and
the capital programme are fully understood and correctly reflect business activity.
To ensure performance improvements in both systems and processes are identified and
implemented to deliver all the requirements of the business.
To ensure excellent co-ordination with the regulatory and strategy team and ensure effective
support in the regulatory analysis and financial accounts planning.
To ensure effective management of the financial reporting team, including maintaining
motivation with the use of formal development reviews.
To ensure effective liaison with the taxation function and contribute to tax planning.
To manage relationships with relevant third party advisers (primarily auditors) and other
interested third parties.
To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of legislation and changes to accounting guidelines;
adjusting processes and reporting as appropriate.
To be responsible for the management of certain cost centres.
To be the internal point of contact for the business on matters of financial reporting.
Experience/Knowledge and Skills







A qualified finance professional (ACA/ACMA/ACCA/MBA), with significant post qualification
experience. Adaptable to changing work environment and able to consistently apply expert
knowledge and experience in a logical and relevant way.
Responsible for technical accounting, intercompany pricing, compliance including GAAP and
Sarbanes-Oxley, including the preparation of management, statutory and regulatory accounts,
and audit management.
Able to work effectively as part of a team and establish positive professional relationships
across the organisation, able to adapt approach to achieve best outcomes.
Excellent communication skills, with confidence to challenge and influence to always achieve
best outcomes and support change.
Proven experience coping with deadlines, able to use initiative and will draw from a variety of
sources of information in order to make sensible decisions.
Committed to getting the best results for the business, setting high standards and
demonstrating tenacity to overcome obstacles and challenges and ensure the integrity and
professionalism of the financial reporting team is always maintained.
Highly proficient IT skills with ability to use Microsoft Office applications and the Oracle
system.
