Our annual Scholastic Book Fair will be running through the 24th. Purchases may be made in the school office.
Book Fair profits fund new books for our school library collection, benefiting all students. If you’d like to help
with the Book Fair, let the office know, and we’ll put you in touch with school mom Diane Ahrenholz, the
Book Fair Coordinator. We are so thankful for the great help the Ahrenholz family provides!

Next week is National Lutheran Schools Week. Our school is part of a Lutheran School system operating
since the 1840’s, with nearly 2,300 schools across the nation (and a few overseas), serving about 270,000
individuals, preschool through university. We’ll be celebrating the week with special dress-up days and activities
detailed elsewhere in this newsletter.

The Winter Carnival is next week, on Friday, January 27. It will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 pm with several
fun games for the family. A Parent council sponsored event, the games are Free! There will be a
concession stand with snacks for purchase. We are looking for parents to sign-up to help host and run the
games. There will be a Cupcake Walk as well, which we need a couple bakers to provide cupcakes, sign-up in the
office! We are looking forward to this event.

The Winter Carnival will happen on the same day as our School Spelling Bee. We would like to invite you all
to join us for this event. We will begin at 1:15 p.m. in the MPR. Third grade through eighth grade participates in
this event.

Our regularly scheduled Parent Council Meeting, that was scheduled for today has been postponed. We will
keep you posted with the future date.

Congratulations again to last week’s Geography Bee participants, and particularly to this year’s school
Champion 8th Grader Garrett Renfro and Runner-up 6th Grader S’Vana Wagner. Way to go! Keep studying
those maps!

Tomorrow, Friday, January 20th, Concordia University Portland Men’s Basketball Team will be hosting a
skills clinic for our 5th-8th grade students. The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. and run until 6:00 p.m. Save your
spot with Mrs. Dirksen.
