The Church Window PRAYER REQUESTS Hebron Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Rev. James Zippay, Transitional Minister April 1, 2017 — Volume XL, No. 4 Web site: www.hebronchristianchurch.net PLEASE WELCOME REV. JIM ZIPPAY Hello Fellowship, It's my pleasure on behalf of the Elders to bring news of the Holy Spirit bringing us Rev. Jim Zippay to serve as our transitional pastor. The Elders have been blessed with the opportunity over the past few weeks to get to know Jim and have come to understand the genuine love he has for God and his people. Rev Jim's work here at Hebron will begin on March 26th devoting time for worship, sermon preparation, office hours and visitation in the weeks to come. As Rev. Jim gains a little traction and momentum the Elders will do as much as possible to help develop ties that bind. Rev. Jim has been involved in ministry for over 30 years beginning with his commitment to Christ in 1978 ultimately resulting in a campus ministry following his graduation in 1982 from OSU; most recently serving as lead pastor at Heritage Christian church in Westerville. Jim has done countless things throughout his life but the obvious thing that stirs his passion is serving God in any capacity. Jim is Ohio-grown being born in Cleveland into a strong Catholic family where he was the middle child of nine. Jim's mother is still living but his father has passed. All his siblings live here in Ohio. Jim is married to Beth and been so for 34 years having two children: a son Gabriel 21 and a daughter Andrea 19. There is much more to tell about Jim but will leave that to you to help develop your own connection in your way. I hope there is enough here to help break the ice. A final note is be an invitation come and help build a renewed energy here at Hebron Christian Church. Come and be fed. Come and hear the Good News as we continue through the Lenten Season. Ch__ch! FOR A BIG PROJECT LEADS For Lent we are asking you to choose a food item that you will give each Sunday during Lent. It might be a favorite food or maybe items that someone might use to prepare an Easter dinner. Of course, you can still bring health care items and monetary gifts which LEADS will use to make bulk purchases of needed items. DISCIPLES MISSION FUND We will collect our Easter Offering for the Disciples Mission Fund on Easter Sunday and Sunday, April 23. The Easter Offering supports Global and Domestic Ministries through the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Thank you for your care and compassion. Your offering may be placed in designated envelopes or marked “Easter Offering.” For the past several months our bell tower has been undergoing renovations. Broken louvered window coverings were replaced with smoked-glass windows, the outer shell was rebuilt and resided, several layers of old shingles were removed and the metal roof remounted and the internal structure was squared and strengthened. Take a close look and you will notice that the window frames form crosses. The tower is also lighted from the inside at night and is visible from all directions. The project will be completed this week. Thanks to John Slater, Travis Wolfe, Sam Slater and Mark Slater for many hours of work, complicated by the tower height, bad weather and the necessity of working out of a bucket lift. 24-HOURS OF PRAYER We are continuing our tradition of 24-hours in prayer between the Maundy Thursday service and the Good Friday Service, April 13 and 14. A sign up sheet is on the table near the sanctuary door. You may pray at home or at another site away from the church. Prayer times are 30 minutes long and you can sign up for multiple slots. As in the past, there will always be an elder on duty in the fellowship hall so you are never alone in the building. BOARD MEETING Monday, April 10 7:30pm in the fellowship hall Don’t forget to return your reservation for the Friday night dinner, April 7, at 6:00pm. Mail in the card or email [email protected].
