DA Good News
My senior year of college I took my first international mission
trip to Belize. The country did not have the tourist reputation
that it does today, and it was great to experience another
culture and another people that were seeking to make
disciples of Jesus. My first day back I remember not feeling
too hungry, but I finished the breakfast prepared for
me. Why? Because I had seen people who did not have much
food.
Though I do not talk about it much, it really does bother me
that there are many people who are underfed and
malnourished, even though the world has plenty of food. Too
often it is easier for me not to think about it, than it is for me
to do more about it. But as followers of Christ we cannot
ignore those who are hungry and thirsty. Feeding them is
feeding Christ (Matthew 25:45). Last year we prepared
approximately 50,000 meals through Stop Hunger Now, and
until now it never dawned on me that those meals were sent to
Belize.
Sunday, September 21, is the day that we will once again
prepare meals to help feed those who live with constant
hunger. You are encouraged to attend worship, and then to go
to the CLC for meal packing (or pack meals then
worship). Attend a service and be in service. Everyone can
participate regardless of age or physical ability. One reason
we work with SHN is because it allows for almost everyone to
be active in mission. We know that St. Andrew’s cannot feed
all the hungry people in the world, but the meals we prepare
will feed many who are hungry.
Grace and peace,
D.A.

SAVE YOUR QUARTERS
Now is the time for you to support “Stop Hunger
Now.” The VBS kids did a great job in June and collected $2500 - over 8,600 meals. On Sunday, September 7, you can pick up YOUR mini M&M’s at the end
of worship. Enjoy the candy and then fill the tube with
quarters and return them September 14. One tube of 54
quarters will provide 48 meals. Then on September 21,
we will come together in the CLC to package 50,000
meals.
ALL-CHURCH MISSION
Stop Hunger Now
Sunday, September 21
Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief organization that coordinates the distribution of food and other lifesaving aid around the world. The organization is driven by
a vision of a world without hunger and a mission to end
hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-saving aid
to the world's most vulnerable and by creating a global
commitment to mobilize the necessary resources. Stop Hunger Now's meal packaging program provides people the
opportunity to package dehydrated, high protein, and highly
nutritious meals that are used primarily to support development programs and to save lives in developing countries
around the world. St. Andrew's will be participating in a
Stop Hunger Now meal packing project on Sunday, September 21, from 10:00am-12:00pm. Our goal is to pack at
least 50,000 meals. We encourage everyone to get involved
on this special day! Join the movement to end hunger now!
Visit them online at stophungernow.org for more information or to make donations.

CJAMM Needs
The CJAMM (Criminal Justice and Mercies Ministries) ministers
have requested items for the Exodus House apartments and drivers
for Penn Ave Redemption Church:
The Exodus House apartments are in need of twin beds for our residents and full size beds too. We currently do not have any left and
are still in need of a minimum of one full-size bed and two twins to
furnish two apartments. If you can help in any way please contact
Doyle at 417-1189 or Robin at 525-2300. We also need microwaves and coffee pots as well as towels and washcloths.
The Penn Ave Redemption Church is in desperate need of ministers, particularly to drive inmates to and from church on Thursday
evenings and on Sunday mornings and afternoons. Please spread
the word and if you or someone you know can help, please contact
Adam Leathers, CJAMM Director at [email protected].
Please contact Lesa Stiger [email protected] if you have any questions or would like further information. Thank you for all of your
thoughts, prayers, time, talent and donations!

IMPACT
On Wednesday nights we have Impact, our main youth worship gathering, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. During the first 45 minutes, there is dinner and time for games and hanging out in the CLC. At 6:45 we come together in the youth room for
worship and a Jesus centered message. It’s always a good time to learn about our Savior!
BREAKFAST CLUB
Breakfast Club takes place Sunday mornings at 9:30am in the youth room. During the first 15 minutes we chill, have juice
and a donut (or sometimes waffles), and just hang out. At 9:45am, we split into smaller groups by gender for Bible Study
and group discussion. When that’s done, we attend the 10:50am worship service together as a group, because we see both
events as a priority!
METRO WORSHIP
Metro Worship is a monthly opportunity for our youth to worship with other Methodist youth from all over the state. This
month St. Andy’s will be hosting, so come be a part of this awesome opportunity to show our brothers and sisters what
Christian hospitality looks like. Our guest speaker this month will be Alex Buchner, and he’ll be preaching on peacemaking. Be here on Sunday, September 14, at 5:45pm. See you then!
PEER MINISTRY
Are you a youth that wants to do more to share the love of Jesus with your friends? Not exactly sure how that works?
Sign up to become a Peer Minister today. As a Peer you’ll receive training and encouragement on a regular basis that will
enable you to help build the Kingdom right now. Our first PEER training session will be Wednesday, September 17, at
5:00pm (right before Impact). Don’t miss out on doing what God is calling you to do; instead strive to equip yourself in
the best way possible to make sure it happens!
SMALL GROUPS
Small groups are an awesome opportunity to experience fellowship and to receive Christian teaching in a more intimate
setting. Small groups start Sunday, September 21. The groups will meet from 4:00pm-6:00pm on Sunday Nights. Thanks!
PARENT’S MEETING
On Sunday, September 7, immediately after the 10:50 service, we’ll be having a parent’s meeting to go over our calendar
and parental ministry opportunities for the semester. See you then!
