 Writing lesson two Objective To write a historical account based on reading of a text. Main activity Students describe the Battle of the Cowshed as if they were writing for a Napoleon-­‐approved history book. Introduction Reorder the following events to describe the Battle of the Cowshed a) Boxer inadvertently knocks out a stable-­‐lad from Foxwood. b) Snowball orders the pigeons to drop their dung on the men. c) Snowball studies an old book of Julius Caesar's campaigns. d) Snowball is wounded by Mr Jones' gun. e) The cat leaps off a roof and sinks her claws into a cowman's shoulders. f) Mollie goes missing. g) Snowball and Boxer are awarded 'Animal Hero, First Class'. Development How do Napoleon and Snowball gradually alter the story of the battle after Snowball is expelled? Who do they claim is the hero? Who do they claim inflicted the wounds on Snowball's back?
