The Royal Hospital, Belfast - mobility and land use A parked car

The Royal Hospital, Belfast - mobility and land use
The Royal Hospital Group has 7000 employees
The average car occupancy in the UK is 1.3
persons. At this rate the hospital would require
5385 car parking spaces if all of its staff used a car
to travel to work.
The hospital is always expanding and this demand
will only increase if the issue of mobility is not
dealt with.
The Royal Group Hospitals are on a site that is
enclosed by 4 main vehicular routes. When the
hospital has needed to expand in the past, it has
swallowed land up that is on its site and as a result
a recreational park was lost for more surface
car-parking.
