1. Click to the Linearization device
2. Select the HP DesignJet 130 Series or another printer you
want to calibrate.
3. Type in the right IP address or choose another opportunity to
address the printer.

4. The whole Media tab should be grey. It has no effect to
calibration process.
5. Select the right media source and format.
6. Press the Save Button or use the menu bar.

7. Click to the red bars of the Linearization workflow to get an
automatic one. The red bars become green arrows.
9. Press the button "Create paper profile"
8. After saving the workflow the icon of the Color Manager
becomes colored and you can start it.

10. You have to choose all the printer settings you want to use.
11. Type in an own paper name. You will find the name
afterwards in the media tap of the Colorproof XF.
12. Press the Advanced button.
13. If you want to make addional settings you can define a new
relationship between light and norm inks.
14. For the Dot gain you can choose the patch were you
measure it. In America it's 50%, in Europe 40%.
15. A proof wants to simulate at every time a reference e.g. an
Offset machine. So it's easier to simulate it, if the values of
the linearization are as close as possible to the Simulation
Profile. You can find profiles in the folder
...\EFI Colorproof XF 2.6\Server\Profiles\Reference
16. Close the Advanced Settings.

17. Please choose a predefined limit to make sure no ink flows
from the paper. Start with a value around 250%.
18. Press the Print Button.
19. The message appears. It's only an information. The job is
send direct to the linearization workflow. You can switch to
the Colorproof XF Job Explorer and will see there the jobs.

20. Measure the printed chart and the software calculates the
total ink amount.
21. Print the Ink limit per channel chart and measure it.
22. Open the Advanced Settings

23. Here you can see the calculated ink limit per channel. The
software try to find to closed point to reference process
color.
24. Close the Settings.
25. The next step is the linearization. Here we will define the
relationship between light and norm inks. Furthermore we
linearize the gradation due to cutting them a step before.
26. Open the Advanced Settings.

27. You can choose another starting point for the norm ink if you
get problems with gradation.
28. Close the Settings.
29. Measure the rows. If you see in the visual part of the Control
Chart problems with the gradation e.g. the gray balance is
shifting, you can go back one step an change the settings for
the Dot gain.
30. Click to "Create report"

31. You will be offer to save the report as a Tiff file to your hard
disk. The report is a summary of your chosen settings.
32. Close the report.
33. Press Finish and the software goes automatically on with
the profiling process.
34. The linearization file and the printer are automatically
loaded.
The only think you have to choose is the Profiling Chart.
35. Click Next

36. Print and measure the Profiling Chart.
37. Open the Advanced Settings.
38. You can choose a setting for the Black generation. Go
below with the values for very old CMYK printer with a big
dot size.
39. Close the Settings and create the ICC-profile

40. After creating the ICC profile save it to the same folder
were the linearization file is. It should be the predefined
working folder.
41. Press Finish and don't continue.

42. In order to recognize the Paper Profile it must be copy into
the Profile Folder. So, go first to the EFI Colorproof XF 2.6
Folder. It should be under Program Files.
43. Go to Client Folder
44. Go to the Working Folder
45. Please select the Linearization file and the ICC Profile.
46. Copy it to the clipboard.
Demonstrator’s Note: The linearization file for the Colorproof
XF has the extension *.epl for the Designer Edition *.bpl.

47. Return to EFI Folder and choose now the EFI Colorproof XF
Profiles folder.
This folder is scanned the whole time by the XF server. He will
detect the new profile/linearization.
48. For your self organization you create first some sub folder
and paste the files into. The server is scanning every
subfolder.
So it doesn't matter if you put all profiles in one folder or you
create a structure with subfolders.

49. Switch to the Colorproof XF System Manager.
50. Right mouse click to the gray area and create a new
output device.
51. Select the printer you have a profiled.
52. Switch to the media tab.

53. Under Media type you can now choose your created profile.
The XF looks into the *.epl file and displays the Paper name.
The epl is linked to the ICC profile.
54. Please save the Setting

55. At least save the configuration with the save button.
56. Connect the output device with the workflow.
57. Over Job Explorer it's now possible to calculate a job for
the own created media.
