Starter – Who developed the Worldwide Web? and in what year?
Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web in 1989, about 20 years after the first
connection was established over what is today known as the Internet. At the
time, Tim was a software engineer at CERN, the large particle physics laboratory
near Geneva, Switzerland.
1. What is the WWW?
The World Wide Web (abbreviated as WWW or W3, commonly known as the Web) is a system of
interlinked hypertext documents that are accessed via the Internet.
2. How is the Internet different from the WWW?
The Internet is a massive network of networks, a networking infrastructure. It connects millions of computers together
globally.
The World Wide Web, or simply Web, is a way of accessing information over the medium of the Internet. It is an
information-sharing model that is built on top of the Internet.
3. What does HTML stand for?
Hypertext Markup Language, a standardized system for tagging text files to achieve font, colour, graphic,
and hyperlink effects on World Wide Web pages.
