Completed student time line poster in which the student correctly organizes 14
historical events in chronological order.
Completed student notes based on PowerPoint presentation.
Completed student time line created on the Timeliner program.
Performance Task Procedures:
Introduction: Day 1
Teacher will introduce the topic by pointing out the relationship between the Cold War
between the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R. How this conflict spread to other portions of the
globe involving other nations in “hot” wars which the US and USSR sponsored.
Students complete the “K” and “W” portion of a K-W-L chart on the Korean War.
Teacher will present a PowerPoint on the Korean War as a concluding activity.
Students will turn in completed notes based on PowerPoint.
Day 2
Warm Up Question: Why did the Korean War begin and why is it considered part of the
Cold War?
Teacher will conduct class discussion with questions that review and reinforce previous
lesson.
Teacher will introduce poster activity to students. Working in pairs, students will create a
time line poster that includes fourteen events related to the war. Time line must be in
chronological order, contain a title, and an illustration. Student will include any citation
information in MLA simplified form.
Day 3
Warm Up Question: What is a “Police Action” and how did the U.N. participate at the
outset of the conflict?
Teacher led discussion reinforcing previous lesson.
Students will complete posters.
Class will complete “L” portion of K-W-L chart.
Day 4
Korean War Timeliner Project
Class will meet in C-Wing computer lab.
Teacher will distribute direction sheet to class and introduce activity.
Using Timeliner students will create a Korean War timeline. Their time line must
include all nine events listed on the direction sheet, contain a title, and have at least one
image or map within the document.

Poster sized paper.
Colored pencils/crayons.
