July 2016 - Wilson and Lori Kannenberg

Greetings from the “AMAZON WINDOW”… South America; Brazil, Peru and Columbia,
July, 2016
Filled with apprehension and excitement, Wilson and Andrew made their first “gift drop” to two very
isolated, unreached Indian tribes. They recorded the GPS position of these tribes last year on a research flight
and from the type of huts they observed from the air, they believe it’s a certain tribe which is still considered
dangerous. In the USA, Andrew came across a little toy (plastic toy soldier with a parachute). Using this same
idea, he made his own “parachutes” for the gifts they planned give. They dropped machetes, a few pans and
talking Bibles in a language they believe the Indians would understand. They made sure the “Messengers”
were turned ON before dropping them. Wilson said the parachutes worked beautifullyl. While heading for
home, they discovered three more tribes in that region. In the Peruvian/Brazilian Amazon, there are many
groups such as this that are still unreached. The next language Wilson and Andrew hope to record on the
Messenger, together with the help of other ministry partners, is the Canamarí Indian language.
“'I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation
to the ends of the earth.'” Acts 13:47
Wilson has made several trips to river villages
recently, both by plane and boat. He took three of his
workers to make concrete bases in eight villages for the
new generators that the electric company will be
installing for a program
called “Light for Everyone”.
God provided this opportunity
to not only help meet a very
real and basic physical need,
but opened the door for Wilson to be a “light” for Jesus and bring help to meet
their spiritual needs. He was able to encourage pastors and leaders, evangelize,
preach and present Gospel films all expenses paid! AND, with the funds left over,
we plan to continue phase two (structure and walls) of the church/training center
in Islândia, Peru. We are trusting God to finish phase three (roof) for a special
dedication to the Lord at Christmas.
Mushed, fried Bananas and Turtle Eggs… prepared especially for Wilson and his team! Sound yummy?
After serving the Lord for 27 years in this region, our most precious friends,
missionaries Allen and Kim Yoder, left due to health issues. They are establishing
their new base and ministries in Fortaleza, Seará where they will teach Biblical
Counseling in a Seminary there and throughout Brazil. Wilson helped Allen fly his
185 Cessna airplane to this new base. After an eight hr. boat trip and 17 hours of
flight, they finally arrived at their destination. We were so sad to see them leave,
but glad that God has this wonderful ministry for them in south Brazil. Allen plans
to visit us once a year and help Wilson with maintenance.
While Wilson was away for
several days at a time, I
prepared more Lesson Plans
and handwork pages for the
Flannel Graph kits the mission
teams brought as well as the
Sunday School packets (Sets with visuals only) that were given to me for free from a Christian bookstore in
Manaus. I am working on making complete sets of all the material I have so soon, this can be distributed
among the churches in remote river villages. I will keep one set of each to add to my “library” of resources,
so churches in town can borrow this material. I am also working on the next children’s event for Children’s
Day in October. This time we are super excited to be planning an entire program using the puppets that teams
and team members have so lovingly provided. 
This is Marinés. She began a weekly Bible study group
of family members and their friends to honor God with
their lives through evangelism and choreography
presentations. We work closely with this amazing team,
ministering together in churches in river villages and in
town. This presentation took place during a special
program for the youth of a Baptist church in town and
Marinés had the honor of giving the message. Luziete (center) moved to Benjamin Constant with her husband,
Isaías, last year, after hearing from her sister about Wilson’s message on the great ministry needs here. We
work closely with them as well. Here she is, proud to be part of the team as their seamstress. It’s been a real
blessing for Wilson and I to play a small part in providing others with ways to develop their ministry gifts.
Recently, we took a few members of this same team to the
Ticuna Indian Village of Porto Cordeirinho. Pr. Ladislau invited
us to take part in a special baptismal service. He was so excited
to have us come! What a tremendous time of rejoicing and
celebration we shared! The group was in charge of praise and
worship and Wilson preached a message on the significance of
baptism. After the service, we all walked down to the river and
watched as one by one, twenty-six brothers and sisters in Christ
gave a public testimony of their commitment to “die to the world
and live for Christ”! Afterwards, we gathered in the church once
again to form a line and personally hug and share a blessing
with each one, welcoming them into the church family, as is their
custom. A wonderful love feast and time of fellowship followed…

What is God teaching us lately? To follow God’s command: “Do everything
without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live
clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a
world full of crooked and perverse people. Hold firmly to the word of life;
then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race
in vain and that my work was not useless.” Philippians 2:14-16
This is something we are working on continually.
Wilson and I are so blessed by your friendship, love and prayers. It’s such a joy to serve God throughout
the Amazon together with you, knowing we can count on your prayers and support both physically and
emotionally. Saying good bye recently to two wonderful men and ministry partners, our adopted “fathers”
and mentors reminds us once again that God counts our days and He wants us to make each and every day
count for His glory! These two men did just that. So did my parents. They all left us Godly examples to follow.
Our desire is to carry on the legacy these loved ones left behind! You and I?... We are still in the race!
God’s richest blessings, Wilson and Lori
