TRADITIONAL NURSING PROGRAMS
Highlighted colleges and universities are members of the Rochester Area Colleges (RAC) consortium.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs listed below are for students enrolled in a non-nursing (i.e. Liberal
Arts) curriculum at MCC. The clinical part of the nursing major would be taken at the 4 year college. Additional core
curriculum courses (as per the 4 year college) are recommended. St. John Fisher and Roberts Wesleyan also offer
2+2 Dual Admission programs for nursing with MCC. Contact Monroe Community College’s Advisement and
Transfer Services office or the 4 year college for course recommendations and/or details about the 2+2 program(s).

NAZARETH COLLEGE
Students should complete all prerequisites (including PSY 101) with a grade of B or higher with no repeats. Nazareth will accept
CHE 124 or 151 for chemistry requirement. Nutrition course (BIO 117 or 217) is not required. Deadline dates: Applicants need to
apply by March 1st for fall admission or October 1st for spring admission.

ROBERTS WESLEYAN COLLEGE
Cumulative GPA (CGPA) of 2.50 required for acceptance to the College; to apply for early admission (directly) to the program,
students must have a minimum 3.30 GPA. Roberts will accept BIO 202 or 209 for microbiology.
 Minimum CGPA of 2.50 in Science and Nursing Courses (subject to change)
 Competitive applicants should have a CGPA of a 3.0 or higher.
Students must complete all courses listed above with a grade of C or higher. Traditional applicants are encouraged to apply by

ST. JOHN FISHER COLLEGE
Cumulative GPA (CGPA) of 2.4 or higher for all prerequisites listed above, on all attempts. Students must complete nursing
prerequisites with a grade of C or higher. Fisher will accept BIO 117 or 217 for nutrition; CHE 124 or 151 for chemistry.
Upon acceptance to the College, students must apply to the Wegmans School of Nursing for admission to the junior clinical year
by March 1 for fall admission or September 1 for spring admission.
Applicants must meet the minimum requirements below to be considered for entry into the junior clinical year:
 CGPA of 2.75 from all previously attended colleges. Preference may be given to those who achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
 Prerequisite GPA of at least 2.4 (including all attempts). Grades below “C” cannot be accepted toward completion of
prerequisite courses.
 Score 84% or higher on the Math Assessment Level A exam (to be taken at St. John Fisher).

THE COLLEGE AT BROCKPORT (SUNY)
Important: Transfer students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be considered for admission to the College as a nursing
intent major. Transfer students must complete 15 credits at Brockport before applying to the nursing program. Fall entry only.
Prerequisites can be completed at MCC, Brockport, or a combination. Recommend completing Chemistry before transferring.
Brockport will accept BIO 202 or 209; CHE 124 or 151. SOC 101 also required.

Accelerated Bachelor’s Program for Non-Nurses: Students who have completed both a non-nursing
Bachelor's degree and program prerequisites may consider an Accelerated Bachelor’s Program for
Non-Nurses offered by schools including the University of Rochester and The College at Brockport.
Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) Nursing Programs
Monroe Community College
Finger Lakes Community College
Acceptance is highly competitive. The program generates
more applications than can be accommodated. It is strongly
recommended that students complete additional
coursework required for the degree prior to applying for

residency requirements, prerequisites, and commonly
asked questions about admission.
Prerequisites:
 Biology (1 year in high school or equivalent)
 Mathematics (algebra required)
 Chemistry (1 year in high school or equivalent)
 Students must complete all required coursework with a
grade of C or higher
 Traditional program is fall entry only. Deadline date is
February 1
 Spring entry available for LPNs only (accelerated
program)

Alfred State College
Prerequisites:
 Algebra at high school level with an 80 or higher on the
Regents exam or equivalent (MTH 098 with a C or
better)
 Chemistry at high school level with a 75 or higher on
the Regents exam or equivalent (CHE 100 with a C or
better)
 Biology at high school level with an 80 or higher on the
Regents exam or equivalent (BIO 132 & 133 with a C or
better)
Please note that A&P I & II will only transfer if the student
has earned a C+ or better in each course with both taken
from the same college.
Note: Alfred State College also has an RN to BS in Nursing
program. Students who complete their A.A.S. in Nursing
may choose to continue to earn their BS in Nursing at
Alfred State College.

Genesee Community College
Prerequisites:
 Biology*
 Chemistry*
*NYS Regents exam with a grade of 75 or better, or cell
biology and basic chemistry in college with a grade of C or
better.
 Meet GCC’s math, reading and writing proficiencies
 GPA of 2.75 or higher, calculated from prerequisite and
support courses required for the nursing program,
 Must attend mandatory Information Session in order to
apply
 Must fill out supplemental application with the Nursing
Admissions Specialist
