Standard Conditions for Approval
1. APPROVAL. Please allow TEN working days for approval, processing and return of this application.
Applications will be processed in the order in which they are received.
2. INFORMATION SUPPLIED. The Corporation aims to process all applications within the ten-day period.
However this will be delayed if the applicant supplies insufficient or incorrect information. Please provide as
much detail as possible on the property address and location - attach a plan of subdivision or a plan showing
the nearest streets etc, if necessary.
3. PLAN OF PROPOSED WORKS. A sketch plan of any new structure or proposed alterations to an existing
structure must be supplied with this application. The plan must show the new work in relation to the existing
buildings and to the property boundaries.
4. WORK MUST COMPLY WITH PLUMBING REGULATIONS. Under S145(3) of the Water Act 1989, it is a
condition of North East Water’s consent to this application that any private works connected to the
Corporation’s works comply with the Plumbing Regulations 2008 and to Australian Standard AS3500 Plumbing
and Drainage.
5. NEW CUSTOMER CONTRIBUTIONS. Any applicable New Customer Contribution (NCC) charges MUST be
paid before this application will be approved. Please notify the Applications and Data Department when the
NCC charges have been paid, otherwise this application will remain unprocessed.
6. CONNECTION POINT LOCATION. North East Water only guarantees the location of the connection point to
within plus or minus one metre, both horizontally and vertically. Please note that North East Water is to be
contacted if the connection point cannot be located as compensation for lost time is limited to one hour. The
connection point MUST be located before commencement of laying any property drain. No compensation will
be considered for drains laid in the wrong location.
7. AS LAID DRAINAGE PLAN. An “As Laid” plan of any new or altered property drain is to be supplied to North
East Water as required under Section 221ZO of the Building Act 1993. Penalties apply for failing to lodge a
plan.
8. SEWERAGE CHARGES. The owner of the property needs to be aware that the sewerage service fee for this
property will start being charged THREE MONTHS from the date of the issuing of the Consent to Connect
number.
9. ROAD OPENING. Any person who intends to open or break up any part of any street for the purpose of laying
a pipe must obtain the prior consent of the relevant Municipal Council.
10. PRIVATE WATER LINE. If this application is for connection of a private water line extension, approval will not
be given until a signed Water Supply Licence is received from the property owner and the applicable NCC
charge has been paid. It is a condition of approval for any new private water line extension that it must consist
of a separate tapping on the Corporation’s water main, a water meter placed as close as practicable to the
water main and a separate pipeline to the property, serving that property only.
