MEETING MINUTES
January 3rd, 2013, held at Inn Marin
The Rotary Club of Ignacio’s Year 2012-2013 twenty-fifth meeting was called to order by President
Steve Minutoli at 12:15 PM or there abouts, since the clock on the wall we so depend upon was just not
moving.
We began, as is our custom, with the traditional Pledge of Allegiance to our Nation’s flag lead by Wendy
Irving. This was followed by Coree Cameron whose offering by Albert Einstein was misplaced by your
humble editor. It was such good advice; it will be published next time this Bulletin is published.
Again this special Season took its toll (a pun?) with absentees numbering 29; no visiting Rotarians nor did any
member bring a guest.
PP Phil Snell, who is in charge of Monte Carlo, this year titled Evening at the Oasis, gave us a real pep talk
concerning the main, major fund raising effort on behalf of our Rotary Club of Ignacio’s Foundation. Phil
showed us Save the Date cards for distribution, introduced VERY talented Gary Gonser, who is once again is
doing the fantastic staging. Gary needs helpers and work starts very soon. Gary showed slides of what it is
hoped will be transferred into reality at the Gala Evening at the Oasis.
Melisa Rinck announced next week’s series of member homes’ Firesides and alerted those members who are
not on the list of homes offered by our very generous and hospitable members. They will be called by Melissa.
These meetings are not only required, but are VERY helpful in establishing and designing the goals, events and
“things” our members want to give and take from their membership in District 5150’s Best Rotary Club.
We are DARK next week, January 10th, 2013, in that Firesides are required meetings and are held in lieu of
scheduled luncheon meetings.
Tuesday the 15,th from 6-8, PP Art Wasserman invited members to pack food boxes at the Food Bank and
enjoy dinner there too. We were reminded that the homeless, poor and hungry seem to want to eat on days other
than Thanksgiving and Winter Holidays.
Men at Work next Community cleanup program is scheduled for 1/27/13. Sign up with Michael Spaulding
please.
Don’t ever let it be said that the members of RC Ignacio are not ahead of the General Community in leadership,
caring and environmental concerns. We have a 2013 Tessla amongst the membership. For the moment our
member is sort of restricted to driving within 200 miles of Novato, but you could see the lips of many of the
members tighten as they sort of bent their necks in shall we say “Wishing our community member-leader good
luck. (And it wasn’t even St. Patrick’s Day.)
PP Daryl Weinroth brought his donation collection box for Specs and Bucks You are asked to bring surplus
eye glasses … including magnifiers and reading specs, so they might be reconditioned and offered to many in
third world nations who cannot afford corrective eye ware.
Irv Hirsch is feeling a bit better and missed today’s meeting again but sent his appreciation for the Get Well
card.
Program:
Recent to join us member Richard Pitt was our speaker. It is our custom to have a member who works in the
financial markets area tell us what they and their firm’s forecast might be in the coming year so we might get
some insight as to what our investment choices are for the coming year.
Richard was through, direct, insightful and while no specific names were mentioned, (ah those Compliance
Departments and their nexus lawyers do put a pale on such advice.) he emphasized that much is still to happen
as far as the “Cliff” is concerned. This will be a year of deadlines, dares and the first to blink. But races are
never one in clam waters.
Upcoming Meetings:
Thursday, January 10, 2013

A Rotary Question to Ponder:
Should our Club have forums and Club discussions over major social charges such s Prop.8, gun control,
legalization of marijuana?
