You may have noticed that the first weekend of June, we here at HOTTRC are busy with PATH Instructor
Certification. Well, for those who may not be familiar with what that is, or what exactly is PATH anyway and why do we
feel that it is so important to have someone specially trained to assists our clients in the first place? All your questions
will now be answered! PATH stands for the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, which is a nonprofit organization that offers training and certification in the promotion of the benefits found in therapeutic
horseback riding along with other equine-assisted activities for people, young and old, male or female, who suffer from
physical, emotional and learning disabilities. Basically, how to help people in need with the assistance of our friends,
the horse, who help bridge the gap by creating a bond of trust, friendship, and love between our horses and our
clients. To accomplish and achieve our desired goals and outcomes, we need professionally trained and certified
instructors to assist in each session. To ensure the finest skill set of our instructors, we have from time to time, yearly,
to renew our certification. We do this in part by being evaluated and tested. First, we must do educational courses to
make sure we remember all that we have learned and stay up-to-date on the latest things. Then we are required to
show that we, ourselves, can ride our horse, by taking and succeeding at a riding test that involves following a series of
commands given to us. Lastly, we have the biggest test of all. We do a class while being observed. We are, therefore,
certified/recertified on our increasing knowledge set, skill set, and our teaching abilities. It is an all-round evaluation
designed so that only the highest qualities are present and used for the benefit of our client in each session we
instruct. We want the best resulting outcome that is possible, each and every time! So, we bring with us, to you, our
proudly certified PATH instructors. This is our promise to each one of you, every single day!
