Display the Photos of Three - and Four-sided Shapes. Point out that some, such as the clover have 3 distinct parts (i.e., leaves). Others, such as the yield sign, have three sides and vertices. Similarly, some such as the red pepper and the lavender colored flower have 4 distinct parts (i.e., sections or leaves) while others, such as the square box have 4 sides and vertices. Have students brainstorm any other shapes they might have seen that have triangular or square attributes. Take the class outside to hunt for these shapes. Have them list ones they find on page 14 of the Math Clue Books. They can include ones in nature or ones that are human-made. © 2015 Zeno, All Rights Reserved *Photos of Three– and Four-sided Shapes *Math Clue Books
