TECHFEST INNOVATION CHALLENGE With a vision of reinforcing the relationship between innovation and entrepreneurship in India, Techfest Innovation Challenge invites all the innovators, entrepreneurs and researchers to showcase their transforming ideas, innovations and prototypes for the betterment of India and its economy. Techfest Innovation Challenge asks for the most ingenious solutions for a smarter, safer, more sustainable and connected India. With the vision of Make In India Initiative it is an endeavour to reach out the innovators at the grassroot level and to bridge the gap between innovation and entrepreneurship 2. To showcase the current indian innovation scenario and improve it by spreading awareness regarding the govt. Policies facilitating and promoting innovation and research 3. To inspire other people to innovate and contribute to improve the innovation culture in India along with promoting Make In India and Skill India campaign. Expectations from applications: 1. Creativity and originality : The innovation must be ingenious and novel in its area of application and should have a high potential for leaving an impact on the society. 2. The innovation should not, by any means, be or include copied or stolen work, such applications will be disqualified immediately. 3. Ideas : The ideas should not require any technological advancement for implementation in India at the first place, If so then the participant is expected to bring prototype of the model in support of the idea. For Example : The Odd-Even system in Delhi was an idea which doesn’t require any technological implementation or advancement, but it was an idea which proved to be successful. 4. Applicable solutions : The innovation should address any societal or industrial problem in the provided sectors.It could be in the form of an add on or a completely new model but the overall impact of the technology should be positive. 5. Potential for commercializing the product/idea : The innovation or idea which has high possibility to convert in a commercial model in coming 2 or 3 years will be more valuable than the others.Those which have a higher utility or problem solving capacity are more likely to be selected. Eligibility: 1. The applicant has to be an Indian citizen. 2. Individuals or teams from the following categories are allowed: a. Students of authorised institutions. b. Early stage startups OR upto 3 years old college passouts. 3. A team is allowed to have maximum 4 members. Stage 1 : Registration and Submission Registration procedure : 1. The participants have to register on the official techfest website : Techfest website - Ideate Techfest Innovation Challenge - Register. 2. The participants/teams have to select their category at the time of registration. 3. No individuals or group of individuals can participate in both of the categories such entries will be discarded. 4. The participants/teams also have to select one or more sector of their work from the given sectors at the time they register for the challenge. Progress Report : Teams will be required to submit one report to [email protected] . This report should contain the idea they are looking forward to work on. If yes then Explain it in less than 3000 words Stage 2 : Evaluation For all the applications an online evaluation will be done by the Jury consisting of an Expert panel related to the concerned sector (will be released soon). Scoring will be done on the basis of the pre established criterion. Judging Parameters : 1. Creativity and novelty : How novel is the idea? How different is it from the current solutions available? The innovation must be ingenious and novel in its area of application and should have a high potential for leaving an impact on the society. 2. Originality : The innovation should not, by any means, be or include copied or stolen work, such applications will be disqualified immediately. 3. Scalability : Does the solution is scalable to a higher level, how easy is to scale up and what are the factors affecting it 4. Robustness:Is the solution implementable as described? Is it repeatable? Is the solution feasible for diverse and changing conditions? 5. Potential of Impact : How does it benefit society?, The Scale of problem it solves, Intensity of the solution and number of people catered from the solution directly and indirectly. 6. Design: has the design been considered? How optimized is the product? 7. Potential for becoming a business: The innovation should have a significant potential for commercialisation in coming 2 or 3 years.Those which have a higher utility or problem solving capacity are more likely to be selected for commercialization. A list of top 20 participants which have been shortlisted will be informed and invited through email to participate at the final stage of evaluation to be held during the festival which is from 16th-18th December. Stage 3 : Presentation and Short Listing All the shortlisted participants will be invited in the Techfest with their model/idea through email to participate at the final stage of evaluation to be held during the festival which is from 16th-18th December. They are supposed to give a short presentation within their slot of 8 minutes. Stage 4 : Exhibition The top Models and prototypes will be displayed in the exhibition on the third Day of the festival which is on 18th December,2016. Selection these exhibits is totally left with the consent of the Jury and Techfest authorities Terms and Conditions for Participation 1. The mode of conducting India Innovation Initiative 2016 is English. Hence, all applications must be submitted in standard written- English. 2. The decision of the Jury shall be final and binding. All participants have to abide by the decision of the jury. No interim or later communication with regard to the decision or its veracity shall be entertained and shall be viewed seriously. 3. Violation of any rules may result in disqualification of the team. 4. Techfest holds all the right to change the dates for the submission and the participants will be informed about the same by E-mail 5. All mode of official communication will be through the techfest e-mail. Certificate policy: Only those teams that are shortlisted for the finals and also give a final presentation about their work during Techfest 2016-17 would be awarded a Certificate of Participation. The top entries from this event would be provided with Certificate of Excellence. Team Specifications: The participating entries must be in a team of a maximum of 4[four] people. If the participating team feels that their idea requires more participants in their team, they can forward their request, with suitable reasons, to [email protected] with the subject "Ideate: innovation Challenge team number increase" First Project Report Submission September 15, 2016 Submission of first project report. Last Date of Registration November 18, 2016 Participants competing in the competition need to register before this date. Final Project Report Submission November 18, 2016 Submission of final project report along with video prototype (if any) has to be submitted before this date. Declaration of Result November 21, 2016 Declaration of shortlisted teams for final presentation at Techfest, IIT Bombay on the basis of final report and the supporting materials. Improvisation Stage November 21, 2016 to November 30, 2016 Shortlisted participants are to improve upon their model and prepare a presentation for the final round. Final Presentation and Video submission December 1, 2016 Participants have to submit the final video of prototype and presentation to be displayed during the festival before this date. Presentation Stage December 16, 2016 to December 18, 2016 Final presentation along with demonstration of working prototype.
