GDPR Transition Programme Frequently Asked Questions

GDPR Transition Programme
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What's the difference between the DPO Programme (website) and the GDPR
Transition Programme (stated on the brochure)?
Answer: Same programme.
2. How is it flexible?
Answer: There are two stages that you can take: Stage 1 allows you to complete a one-day
workshop along with online Module 1: 'Getting Ready for GDPR'. This online module has
around 10 learning hours of content and an assessment at the end of it with 20 questions.
This allows you to get a Henley Business School Certificate of Attendance for completing
this Stage 1. If you wish to take the whole GDPR Transition Programme (Stage 2), you can
enrol and will get a credit for Stage 1. Alternatively you can enrol for the whole programme
and gain a cost saving in the process.
3. Is the GDPR Transition Programme skills-based or purely academic?
Answer: The Executive Education Programme on GDPR has been developed very carefully
to be as practical as possible where you can apply what you learn immediately to your own
workplace situation. The way this has been achieved has been to look at the GDPR and
other relevant legislation (such as the FCA Senior Managers Regime) through the lens of
protecting business continuity. There are practical exercises, scenarios, quizzes, checklists and PDF downloads based on real-life situations, underpinned by a rigorous
examination of the GDPR. All content is presented in colloquial English in order to make this
as accessible as possible and enhance your learning experience and the focus is on
developing skills.
4. Is all the content I need to access online?
Answer: Yes, all the content for the GDPR Programme is provided online. In addition, we are
planning to publish two books next year on the GDPR and a handbook for those who are
DPOs. In addition, we have a Journal of Data Protection and Privacy that you can subscribe
to as well as an active LinkedIn Group with over 700 members worldwide.
5. How many hours does it take to complete the GDPR Transition Programme?
Answer: You can complete the GDPR Transition Programme at your learning pace and we
recommend around 5-6 per week private study that should allow you to complete the whole
programme within 5-6 months.
6. What happens if I can't always put in 5-6 hours of private study a week?
Answer: That's not a problem - it means the GDPR Programme will take you longer to
complete. An interactive dashboard that you can access on your mobile phone will keep an
eye out for you to let you know how you're progressing through the GDPR Transition
Programme.
7. Do all companies need a DPO?
Answer: It depends - the GDPR is clear on the grounds that an organisation must employ a
DPO and this is contained the GDPR. In short, DPOs must be appointed by all public
authorities and for organisations that regularly and systematically monitor data subjects on
a large scale or process on a large scale special categories of data. So any regulated industry
or sector is likely to require the appointment of a DPO by organisations such as in financial
services. All organisation of course need to observe the GDPR so you don't have to be a
DPO to attend the programme, for example, you could be a Chief Privacy Officer.
8. How many people have signed up to attend the GDPR Programme so far?
Answer: We have daily inquiries for Stage 1 and Stage 2 - for Stage 2 we have enrolled 5
applicants for the full GDPR Programme and this is going to change rapidly as we let more
people know about the full GDPR programme. We are gaining international recognition for
the GDPR Programme and recently spoke at the Financial Times Cyber Security Summit
Europe and took part in a live debate on the GDPR with Jan Albrecht MEP who's the chief
architect of the GDPR in the European Parliament.
9. Can I contact other learners on the GDPR Transition Programme?
Answer: There are three ways in which you can contact other learners: at the introduction
and integration workshop that will allow face to face networking as well as reaching out to
others via our LinkedIn Group for the Journal of Data Protection and Privacy. We don't share
your personal data with anyone without your explicit consent!
10: Does the programme cover ISO27001 overlap?
Answer: Yes, we look at the ISO standards in the context of processing data and cloud
computing in Module 6
