¡Saludos! My name is Alicia
Shannon and I am your child’s Spanish
teacher. I have been studying Spanish
since 1999, and have lived in and traveled
to Costa Rica, Spain, Mexico, and
Ecuador. I’ve been teaching at Evergreen,
Trailside and Woodfield since 2011, and I
have also been teaching at Fox River
Middle School since 2008.
Since class meets for 25 minutes
about once a month, I recommend that
you spend some time reviewing these
newsletters at home. They will include
the main topics I’ve taught in each class
and usually some songs and links. With
more reinforcement at home your child
will know and remember a lot of Spanish!

The Spanish alphabet has the
same letters as the English
alphabet; the letters just sound
different when you say them.
The only difference is that they
have the letter ñ. Also, the
sounds “ch,” “ll” and “rr” used
to be part of the Spanish
alphabet, but now are just
considered sounds.
