Request Summary
Description of Change
For obstetrical cases, ensure
that there is consistency with
the degree of tear sustained
and the degree of
tear repaired.
Added new hard edit 11 02 56 in the DAD to ensure that
• If a first- or second-degree laceration is coded, then repair of a third- or fourth-degree laceration
should not be coded; and
• If a third- or fourth-degree laceration is coded, then repair of a first- or second-degree laceration
should not be coded.
Added new warning 11 02 66 in the DAD to check that

Special Projects
(DAD Group 16 Fields 01–17)
(NACRS DE 79–96)
Create a special project to
allow pediatric surgical
wait time information to
be captured.
This special project was created as a solution to replace the original Canadian Paediatric Surgical Wait
Times (CPSWT) Project database for interested facilities that want to continue collecting data to
monitor how long children and youth wait for surgery. The information collected will support calculation
of wait times from consultation (decision to treat date) to surgery (CPSWT intervention episode date)
based on the Paediatric Canadian Access Targets for Surgery (P-CATS).
DAD and NACRS Special Project 050 will capture the following data elements for the
CPSWT initiative:
• Decision to treat date—The date the wait for the intervention began, in YYYYMMDD format.
• P-CATS code—A four-character code, assigned by the surgeon, that represents the diagnosis
assigned to the patient. The list of P-CATS categories and target times will be posted in conjunction
with the DAD/NACRS Manual listing on the CIHI Applications web page.
• CPSWT Intervention Episode Start Date (DAD only)—The date the intervention was actually
performed, in YYYYMMDD format.
