Honoring
Queen Lili‘uokalani
(1838 - 1917)
Last reigning Monarch of Hawai‘i and sister of King David
Kalākaua, she reigned from 1891 to 1893. She led the choir at
Kawaiaha‘o Church until she became Queen and composed
many beautiful Hawaiian songs, including the world-wide
favorite “Aloha ‘Oe.” She left her estate to the care of orphan
and destitute children in Hawai‘i with preference to those of
Hawaiian/part Hawaiian ancestry.
“O aku oia i kona mau lima i ka poe nele, kikoo oia i kona
mau lima i ka poe ilihune…
She stretcheth forth her hand to the poor. Yea, she reacheth
forth her hands to the needy.”

“Love Divine, All Loves Excelling”
“E Ka Uhane Mana Lani”
Romans 8:2
[1] Love divine, all loves excelling, Joy of heaven to earth come down,
Fix in us Thy humble dwelling, All Thy faithful mercies crown.
Jesus, Thou art all compassion, Pure, unbounded love Thou art;
Visit us with Thy salvation, Enter every trembling heart.
[2] Alu mai, ke Kumu mana, Pale i na enemi,
Noho mau, ho‘opumehana Ma kou lua kini nei;
Ho‘omaika‘i, a ho‘ohauoli, A kokua ia makou
E ho‘omaika‘i mau ia oe, Me na kini o ke ao.
[4] Finish then Thy new creation, Pure and spotless let us be;
Let us see Thy great salvation Perfectly restored in Thee.
Changed from glory into glory, ‘Til in heaven we take our place,
‘Til we cast our crowns before Thee, Lost in wonder, love, and praise.

“How Great Thou Art”
Psalm 48:1
[1] E ke Akua nani kamahao, Nau no I hana ka honua nei,
O Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made,
Me na hoku, ka ui’la ka hekili Hoike ana i Kou mana e.
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed:
Hui: E mele au I ka Ho‘ola e, He nani no, He nani no
Refrain: Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
E mele au I ka Ho‘ola e, He nani no, He nani no.
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
[2] When through the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze: (Refrain)

JEREMIAH 2:11-13
11 Has a nation ever changed its gods? (Yet they are not gods at all.) But my people
have exchanged their Glory for worthless idols.
12 Be appalled at this, O heavens, and shudder with great horror,” declares the
Lord.
13 “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of
living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold
water.”

THE MESSAGE IN ENGLISH
“God is Grieving”
Jeremiah 2:4-13
‘ŌLELO MANA‘O‘I‘O
Statement of Faith (of the UCC)
Led by Kahu Teruo Kawata
We believe in God, the Eternal Spirit,
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father, and to His deeds we testify:
He calls the worlds into being, creates man in His own image
and sets before Him the way of life and death.
He seeks in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin.
He judges people and nations by His righteous will
declared through prophets and apostles.
In Jesus Christ, the Man of Nazareth, crucified and risen Lord,
He has come to us and shared our common lot,
conquering sin and death and reconciling the world to Himself.
He bestows upon us His Holy Spirit,
creating and renewing the Church of Jesus Christ,
binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.
He calls us into His Church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship,
to be His servants in the service of men,
to proclaim the Gospel to the world, and resist the powers of evil;
to share in Christ’s baptism and eat at His table
to join Him in His passion and victory.
He promises to all who trust Him forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace,
courage in the struggle for justice and peace.
His presence in trial and rejoicing.
And eternal life in His Kingdom which has no end.
Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto Him! Amen.

“In Christ There Is No East or West”
Acts 10:35
[1] In Christ there is no East or West, In Him no South or North;
But one great fellowship of love Throughout the whole wide earth.
[2] In Him shall true hearts everywhere Their high communion find;
His service is the golden cord Close binding all mankind.
[3] Join hands then, brothers of the faith, Whate’er your race may be;
Who serves my Father as a son Is surely kin to me.
[4] In Christ now meet both East and West; In Him meet South and North.
All Christly souls are one in Him Throughout the whole wide earth.
