Tourism Program Marketing and Administrative Assistant
College and Area Information
Tillamook Bay Community College (TBCC) is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and highly
skilled candidate to serve as Tourism Program Marketing and Administrative Assistant and to
work in conjunction with and support of the College’s mission.
Tillamook Bay Community College is located 85 miles west of Portland on the beautiful North
Oregon Coast in Tillamook, Oregon; the county seat of Tillamook County. The County has a
population of 26,000; TBCC served 2,280 students during the 2014-15 academic year.
Organizational Relationship
Reports to the Tillamook County Tourism Director.
General Statement
This position provides marketing programs and administrative assistant support to the Tourism
Director for a range of programs and marketing development for the tourism industry of
Tillamook County.
Contracts
Annual: 1.0 position July 1 – June 30
Leave in accordance with current TBCC Policy 312 and corresponding regulations.
Specific Responsibilities






Coordinate tourism marketing programs and projects as requested, and assist in
ongoing marketing initiatives.
Identify, research, develop and track results of revenue-generating and visitor
experience programs with tourism businesses to improve off-season tourism.
Establish and maintain relationships with tourism business owners and organizations to
help develop cooperative marketing campaigns.
Assist tourism director with special projects as needed, such as tradeshow logistics,
familiarization trips, training, etc.
Assist tourism director with organizational projects, such as strategic and marketing
planning.
Coordinate meeting and event logistics such as securing rooms, venues, ordering food,
and other necessary preparations as directed.



Serve as point person and respond to phone calls, emails, and requests from local
businesses and chambers, vendors, consultants, tourism organizations, advertisers and
travel writers.
Create, edit, print, and distribute appropriate reports and correspondences under the
direction of the Tourism Director.
Fill-in as presenter for Visit Tillamook Coast when director is unavailable.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:











Undergraduate college degree or equivalent work experience (5 years of full-time work
experience). Experience in tourism-related industry preferred. Communications,
Hospitality, Marketing or Liberal Arts major preferred.
Must be highly motivated, responsive, organized, detail-oriented and collaborative.
Must have superior verbal and written communication skills, and strong editing and
proofreading skills.
Ability to track schedules and meet deadlines, efficiently manage and prioritize multiple
projects at once and work independently with minimal supervision.
Must have superior interpersonal skills with colleagues and community.
Strong commitment to customer service.
Strong individual and collaborative problem solving skills.
Fluent in the suite of Microsoft Office applications, internet and intranet applications,
Google email and calendar, and social media applications
Ability to learn new software programs as needed.
Willingness to occasionally travel to meetings, events and conferences
Maintain a professional demeanor and practice discretion at all times.

Compensation and Position Availability
This is a 1.0 FTE position. Salary: $41,834-$44,382/annually depending on experience.
