And it still not too late to become a member, applications are in room 419 and must be returned by this Friday. Fellowship of Christian Athletes first meeting of the year tomorrow at 7:15 in room 1215. Donuts will be provided. (9/10) The Professional Careers Academy Kick-off Event is tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. This event is required for all PCA members. Any student who would like to learn more about Olathe South's 21st Century PCA Program is encouraged to attend. Plan to be there! (9/8) The following students need to see Mrs. Klusman in the office and claim their planner quiz prize. Volunteers are needed at Brougham Elementary on 9/25 from 6:15 to 7:45 to help supervise children while their parents attend a school information session. If interested, please contact the principal at Brougham Elementary. Community Service Opportunity Right Next Door! Indian Trail is in need of student tutors to help every Monday and Wednesday from 3:15 until 4:15. Contact Principal Becky Vrbas or Counselor Angie Baker if interested. 780-7230. Freshmen and Seniors: Representatives from each of the district's four high schools take part in the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council, an opportunity for students to provide feedback and learn more about the district from Superintendent Marlin Berry. The council meets four times a year and provides an opportunity for an open dialogue between the students and superintendent. In addition to being able to ask questions, students also speak and provide their input on a variety of topics related to education today. Current members are Zach Heidrick, Hanna Gabel, Bailey Hockett. Contact Mrs. Birch if you would like to apply for a spot on the OS team. Deadline is Sept. 21. Students interested in participating in the clean and sober group should see Mrs. Allegre in the counseling department. The group meets weekly during the 1st session of seminar in room 206. Juniors- Do you want a GREAT prom this year? If so, then we need your help to work the concession stands at the home football games. The Miss Kansas Teen Pageant is looking for young ladies ages 14-18 as of February 1, 2013 to compete in this year’s pageant. Contestants will be judged on personality interviews, physical fitness in swimsuit, and poise and beauty in evening gowns. The winner and runner-ups will receive college scholarships to Lindenwood University in St. Louis. Applications are available in the student services office and are due Oct. 1st. ATHLETICS Attention all wrestlers: If you’re not involved in a fall sport, it’s time to start training! There will be a short informational meeting tomorrow at 3:15 in the wrestling room. (9/8) STUDENT SERVICES: Seniors - College representatives visiting Olathe South this week are Bethany College (Sept. 10), Northwestern University and the University of Alabama (Sept. 11th), University of Kansas (Sept. 12), and ITT Technical (Sept. 13). If you would like to visit with any of these representatives or the many other colleges that will be here this fall, sign up in the student services office and get a pass. If you are interested in attending Wichita State and have a 3.5 GPA and ACT of 24 or higher, you may be eligible to compete in the Distinguished Scholarship Invitational. K-State’s Education Experience Day, is an opportunity to shadow an Education Ambassador at Kansas State. There are two opportunities for juniors and seniors, who plan to major in education, Friday, October 5th and Thursday, November 15th. The day will begin at 8:00 am and end at 3:00 pm. Applications must be received by the college three weeks prior to the date you wish to attend. Contact K-State College of Education for an application. The Midwest Christian College Fair and Financial Aid Workshop will be hosted by Maranatha Academy on Monday, September 24th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. The will be held at the Maranatha North Campus Gymnasium at 15000 W. 63rd street, Shawnee. Christian college representatives will be available to answer your questions and provide up-to-date financial aid information. The University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine is offering a unique opportunity for students interested in medicine to enter medical school directly out of high school and complete both the BA and MD degree in six years.
