Region 04 Winter Newsletter 2012

Region 4 Newsletter
Bristol, Somerset and Gloucestershire
January2012
From the Recliner
I have had four attempts at trying to explain what is going
on inside the Trust and on each occasion I’ve given
up. We seem to have two irreconcilable groups Hell bent
on winning control of the organisation, each claiming to be
the rightful inheritors of the mantle handed down by Harry
Edwards.
As a Committee we have tried not to take sides although
there are a number of differing and deeply held views
amongst us. What I find extremely frustrating is that we
in Region 4 have managed to work cohesively and in a
friendly manner for the benefit of the Region and our
members in a spirit of non judgemental love and healing.
We believe that it IS possible!
It is now long past the time for those involved to put their
differences aside and give priority to the needs and requirements of our members and their patients. If they can
not do so, then they have no place in our healing organisation.
There is one word that everyone involved should remember – Karma.

Healing Day
The Healing Weekend–
28th April Penny Brohn Cancer Care
6– 8th July Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre
Speaker– Angie Buxton King
Highbridge, Somerset
This years annual event will feature the recently
elected Chair of the Healing Trust. Author of ‘The
NHS Healer’ she was employed by UCLH managing a
team of complementary therapists. Her work has
been featured many times in the media and she is a
sought after speaker at conferences both here and
internationally, so we are sure the day will be popular
with regional Members too!
We plan to have a healing space again at this popular
and growing weekend. Last year despite the rain we
had a great time together and gave healing to many.
We would ask that any members able to come put
the date in their diaries now and volunteer for a
morning or afternoon, or indeed a day of healing.
Thank you!
At the ever welcoming Penny Brohn CC it promises
to be a great day. Details of tickets and times available soon.

Students
Do please be in touch if you have any issues
or problems with your evolution towards becoming a full healer. Try not to be distracted
by recent troubles at Central Office which
have been made rather too public but are
now in the process of being resolved. It is you
the evolving Healer in the process of realising
a wonderful vocation that makes you hugely
more important than petty human squabbles.
Mentors
Central Office issued a very useful Guide for
Mentors last October. It covers Guidelines,
Meetings, Report Form Guidance Notes and a
resume of the act of healing. This guide will
be very helpful to those with occasional uncertainties and is well worth studying. A copy
can be obtained from Vicky Tipping, contact

Get to know your committee– the Regions are run by elected committee
members who give of their free time. Chrissie and Julie are the most recent recruits and here give their responses to the Editors questions!
Chrissie Aston
When did you join Region 4 Committee?
What prompted you to volunteer?
I joined about a year ago, and I would not
say I exactly volunteered!
What is your role? What do you enjoy about
it? Or not!
I am the secretary for region 4 for my sins!
My role is to take the minutes at the meetings and then transcribe them into a report,
which is then circulated, after any amendments, to the committee members and to
CO. Surprisingly, to me, I do enjoy it. The
job is not without its frustrations, but it is a
necessary and useful place within the committee. I am still getting to grips with the
post, and need the committee’s input to
get it right! It really helps a lot that they are
all a committed bunch,
and nice to boot!
Where do you live?
I have been happily married to Ed for 23 years,
who is, luckily, in total
support of my path and
journey.
I was born on the Island of Cyprus when it
was still a whole island, and have lived in
the UK all of my life but for 9 months. I
have lived in Bristol for over 40 years, it is a
constantly changing City and never ceases
to amaze!
How do you stay grounded ?
I look around me at what is going on in the
world and in our Country and count my
blessings for the path I am on.
How long have you been healing?
My Mentor is the lovely
Maureen Wootton who runs
the Redland Healing Centre, Bristol. The
centre has been running for over 25 years at
the same site, great accolade indeed. Most
of the healers have been giving healing
there for many, many years. So I figured
that would be the one for me! And have
been attending since April 2010...and love
it.
When did you join the NFSH?
I Joined the NFSH in March 2010 partway
through my foundation course taken with
Chrissy Holmes. I chose the NFSH for many
reasons, their training courses, on-going
training courses and the recognition of the
organisation.
Who/what has been your greatest inspiration ? I was lucky enough to be given a week
on a health farm on my 40th I received the
most amazing face and neck massage from
a young therapist that took me on a journey, I now know was a form of meditation
experience. Then and there I decided to
change profession and give to others what I
had just received. I immediately set in place
therapist training. Since then there have
been many twists and turns; Beauty therapy, Aromatherapy, Masseur, Reiki and now
Spiritual Healing. The more I walk my path
the more I learn, the better the healing
channel, the more I can assist those in
need.

When did you join Region 4 Committee? What prompted you to volunteer?
Region 4
Committee
I joined at the beginning of last year, 2011, but it is actually a return to the committee for me. I was Student Liaison Officer from
2004-2006 & also ran a Drop-in Healing Centre in the Town Hall,
Glastonbury, so I gave it a voice on the committee.
Ross Floyd
Chair
What is your role? What do you enjoy about it? Or not!
Treasurer
I don’t currently have a role as such. I am a spokesperson for &
represent my area, Glastonbury, & am happy sitting idly by, twiddling my thumbs… ;-)
Martin Davis
When did you join the NFSH?
I joined the NFSH in 2002 and have been a full healer since March
2004.
Where do you live? Glastonbury!
How do you stay grounded?
I am also a Yoga teacher, the practise of which helps me to stay
grounded. I like walking in the countryside, gardening, drinking
plenty of water and eating healthily plus I have a family; teenage
kids certainly help to keep your feet on the ground!

Who/what has been your greatest inspiration?
Michele Eve
Newsletter Editor
My greatest inspiration has been and is Margaret Payne.
Jennifer Jones
She and her husband Tony ran the Healing Centre in Glastonbury
when I moved here in December 2000. I met her when I went
along for some healing a couple of weeks after we moved here;
my husband was at work so my 3 and a half year-old
daughter had to come in with me and sat completely still
for the full twenty minutes; I was suitably impressed!
I would go to Margaret and Tony’s Wednesday evening
meditations and the following healing practice and was
finally convinced to take the courses. Margaret was a
wonderful Mentor and today she is a very wise but
grounded friend. I am so grateful to her and honoured to
be her friend.
