Work description
The alternative road
realisation required the
execution of a tunnel
about 425 m in length, a
bridge about 48 m and
other minor works. our
officr was charged with
drawing up again the
lay-out and ist respective
static alterations.The
mountain wall lay-out
was planned according
to a 70 km per hour
speed. The tunnel digging technique was the
traditional one, consisting of the use of an
explosive.
The problem of the peculiar entrance, due to
difficult geologic and
road conditions, was
brilliantly solved at the
planning stage, also
considering the traffic
flow continuity. The
tunnel required four
different digging and
standard section classes.
Furthermore, various
precautions were taken
to put out the bridge
slopes and abutments of
harm’s way in order to
increase the rectified
road section safety.
