Meet Penelope
The New Pet Therapy Dog
At The Juvenile Detention
Center
Penelope visits the Detention Center once a month. She absolutely loves her visits! She runs
into the building and then takes a long nap after she gets home. The kids love her and she
loves the kids and staff. The youth ask a lot of questions about therapy dogs and share stories about their own pets. Penelope was a rescue dog who two years ago received her therapy dog certification and canine good citizenship through Therapy Dogs International. Therapy dogs help relieve anxiety and depression improving children’s mental health. The pictures
of Penelope in the car looking exhausted were taken right after her visit at JDC. As you can
see from the other pictures, Penelope is a diva and has an awesome wardrobe.
Parents Anonymous
EVERY Thursday At F.S.O.
6:30pm to 8:30
Our Parents Anonymous group is designed to provide support to each other. Parents, Grandparents and Guardians determine how much and what
information they share with the group. It is a true relief to find you are not
alone in your endeavors as a parent. We show parents that taking care of
themselves is as important as taking care of their children.
Our Parents are encouraged to use the group in whatever way works for
them and their families .
Free childcare is available for parents who would like to attend Please call 24 hours in advance.

At the same time you are at Parents Anonymous your child could be experiencing a great time
at YOUTH PARTNERSHIP with our trained staff.
Youth Partnership is for 13-21 year olds who would like to be apart of a group that builds self –
esteem. While attending Y.P. your child will make friends and have fun. They will learn advocacy
skills and receive support from their peers. They will learn how to understand themselves and
others while sharing similar issues with their friends.

Every child has experienced embarrassment or rejection in social situations. Kids with learning disabilities are often isolated, rejected, and sometimes have a particularly hard time making
and keeping friends.
Richard Lavoie, a nationally known expert on learning disabilities, explains why this happens
and what parents or teachers can do to help children improve their social skills.

it affects everyone, as well as your child’s development. It is possible to stop verbal abuse and turn the
behavior around. You will learn a step-by-step, wordfor-word way to get kids to look at their abusive language, identify what triggers it, and make better choices next time.

TWO PARENTS
ONE PLAN
When parents have difficulty being on the same page,
they have a general common theme, to manage their
children.
If it is a child with behavior challenges and they are
stirring and shaking things up at home. It can distract parents from their role of working together effectively. Your child can put a tremendous amount of
pressure on you and it can make things harder for
you and your mate to communicate.
Learn how to get past the anger, distractions and find
ways to reconnect on your common interest: your
child.
Tuesdays Part 1, June 27th and Part 2,
July11th from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the
Pinelands Family Success Center
55 Pemberton Browns Mills Rd., N.J. Childcare
is available at no charge. Please call in
advance. 609-261-0001
