RULES
LOSS, INJURY OR DAMAGE to horse or owner (including rider or other
employee) is in no way the responsibility of the Dutchess County Fair
Management or the Horse Show Committee.
INSUFFICIENT ENTRIES in a class shall result in the cancellation of that
class. The Committee also reserves the right to divide, combine or add any
classes it deems necessary for the good of the show. In a money class, the
Committee reserves the right to declare it a Sweepstakes if there are
insufficient entries.
ONLY JUDGES and those having duties to perform shall be allowed in the ring
during judging.
NUMBERS must be worn in ring. No charge for numbers.
ALL ENTRY FEES must be paid prior to receiving exhibitor numbers or a blank
signed check payable to the Dutchess County Fair Horse Show may be left
with the Secretary until the end of the show. No entry fees will be refunded
without a veterinarianʼs certificate. Post entries will be $1.00 extra per class.
A CERTIFICATE OF A NEGATIVE COGGINS TEST, performed in the current
or previous calendar year, must be shown before exhibitor numbers will be
issued. ALL EQUINE ENTERING ANY NYS COUNTY FAIR OR THE NYS
STATE FAIR MUST BE ACTIVELY IMMUNIZED AGAINST RABIES. VACCINE
MUST BE ADMINISTERED AT LEAST FOURTEEN (14) DAYS PRIOR TO
ARRIVAL ON FAIRGROUNDS. VACCINATION CERTIFICATE FROM YOUR
VETERINARIAN MUST ACCOMPANY EACH EQUINE. EQUINES NOT
MEETING THESE REQUIREMENTS WILL BE REJECTED FROM THE
PREMISES.
PASSES to enter the Fairgrounds and for free parking are issued in limited
supply based on the number of exhibitors and vehicles noted on the pre-entry
form. They will be mailed to all exhibitors upon receipt of entry form. No
refunds on tickets purchased at the gate.
SCHOOLING. “Controlled” free schooling will be permitted between 6:30 AM
and 9:15 AM.

County Fair Horse Show.”

HORSES MAY NOT ENTER GROUNDS BEFORE 8:00 PM AUGUST 23RD.
$25.00 charge for returned checks.
Juniorʼs age will be determined as of January 1 in the year of the show. Junior
to drive classes will be judged on driving ability and not on the quality of horses.
All juniors must be accompanied by an adult capable of driving horses. Juniors
may not show a stallion in any class.
NEW YORK STATE HELMET LAW: Article 34-B. S1265 No person less
than fourteen years of age shall ride/drive a horse/horses unless such
person is wearing a helmet meeting or exceeding ASTM F1163 (Safety
Equipment Institute certified) Equestrian Standard.
STALLS
Reservations for stalls are on a first come, first served basis, after April 1st. Telephone
reservations must be followed with fees for stabling within five days. Passes to enter the
fairgrounds will be sent upon receipt of stall fees. Reservations should be made before
August 1. Some stalls may still be available after that date.
Stalls are rented for a 23-hour period beginning 8:00 PM one evening to 7:00 PM the next
evening. Stalls are $20. per day. Initial bedding is provided. One stall per horse. Doors are
provided for each stall.

DRIVING SHOW
Open to all breeds of horses and ponies, donkeys and mules. Class specifications noted below.
Header allowed, not required. Header may enter ring when class is called to line up. Appropriate dress
required for exhibitors and headers. Junior whip must be accompanied by an adult. Anyone
removing the bridle from any animal while it is still hitched will be excused from the showgrounds.
All classes will be worked both ways of the ring at the Judges discretion. All classes may require
animals to stand quietly and back, or execute a figure eight.
Entry Fee $10.00 Per Class
Except Stake Class for which Entry Fee is $15.00.

Every entry at this Show shall constitute an agreement and affirmation that the person making it, along with
the owner, lessee, trainer, manager, agent, coach, driver, rider and the horse: (1) shall be subject to the local
rules of the show; (2) that every horse, rider, and/or driver is eligible as entered; (3) that the owner and any
of his representatives are bound by the rules of the show and agree to hold the show, their officials, directors
and employees harmless for any action taken; (4) that the owner, rider/driver and any of their agents or
representatives agree to hold the show, and their officials, directors, employees and agents harmless for any
injury or loss suffered during or in connection with the show, whether or not such injury or loss resulted
directly or indirectly from the negligent acts or omission of said officials, directors or employees.
