FOOT CARE CLINICS
Starting April 4, 2017
Home and Community Care Program has trained professional to do Foot Clinics on the scheduled basis, if
there is a drop-in then, time permitting then an assessment will be done by the Registered Nurse.

Senoqw’iye thel xwelmexw skwix, Telitsel kw’a Sts’ailes.
My name is Leanne Julian, I am from Sts’ailes and live on Ch’iyaqtel.
I am a part-time student at UFV, where I sit on the Indigenization
Committee of the Senate. I am working towards completing my
Bachelors Degree in General Studies with a focus on Indigenous
Studies, Halq’emeylem Language, Criminology and Business
Administration.
I was the Administrative Assistant at Shxw’owhamel First Nation since
2014. Previous to that I worked for Sts’ailes as a Receptionist,
Maintenance Worker, Store Clerk; and for 5 years I have been a
member of the Volunteer Fire Department. I have also worked for
Corrections Service Canada as a Works and Maintenance Supervisor.
I appreciate the opportunity to join the team here at Sto:lo Nation, and
I look forward to working in the Human Resources Department.

Shxw’ōwhámél First Nation requires the services of a Lands Assistant to work under the supervision of the
Band Administrator. The Lands Assistant will have the opportunity to expand their capacity in the field of
Lands Management. The Lands Assistant will provide support on the development of the Lands Department.
Responsibilities include but not limited to: Coordinating Meetings and Workshops, Minute Taking, maintaining
database filing and web based research, Developing Land Policies.

Culture and Recreation Coordinator

Shxw’ōwhámél First Nation requires the services of a Culture and Recreation Coordinator (CRC) to work
under the supervision of the Band Administrator. The CRC will provide assistance in planning and
coordinating a variety of events with the Band Social Development Worker that take place in the
Shxw’ōwhámél Community Centre. Responsibilities will include but not limited to: coordinating meetings and
workshops, minute-taking, filing, web-based research, fundraising, funding proposals and event planning.

Administrator. The Receptionist will have the opportunity to expand their capacity in the Administration field.
The Receptionist will provide support to the Administration Department. Responsibilities include but not limited
to: answering phones, handling incoming and outgoing faxes, emails and mail. Capacity building includes
participating Coordinating Meetings and Workshops, Minute Taking, maintaining database filing and web
based research.

UBC ABORIGINAL HEALTH SCIENCES PRE-ADMISSIONS WORKSHOP
July 12th-14th, 2017
This 3-day workshop is intended to help you learn about the admissions process at UBC and financing your
education. Attendees will receive experience with team based learning and the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI)
format used in many health science admissions processes.
You will get to know the UBC Vancouver campus and the people and facilities that we have to support you as
you pursue your education.

FRASER ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
This is a high-performance camp that will train and prepare young athletes to overcome physical and mental
obstacles to reach their goals. Athletes will train twice a week from April until June in Strength & Conditioning,
Gymnastics, and Sprinting under the tutelage of experience NCCP certified coaches. We will be running one
program in the Langley area and one in the Seabird Island/Chilliwack area to accommodate athletes living
across the Fraser Region.
This program is ideal for Team BC athletes who will be heading to the North American Indigenous Games in
July, but we also welcome athletes of all skill levels and disciplines.

STÓ:LŌ SERVICE AGENCY TALKING ROOMS – CASE
STUDY
The Stó:lō Service Agency repurposed several rooms to
become Talking Rooms – welcoming spaces where clients can
meet with their health-care providers. The new rooms alleviate
some of the stress and anxiety associated with clinical healthcare environments.

If there is a client requesting a naloxone kit, please contact the following staff: Chelsea LockerbyPoint, CHW, Brooke Bob-Reid, CHW, Catherine Finney, Rhoda LeDoux, Brenda Pike, Lacey

Clients may walk-in and request a kit. Please first attempt to contact community health staff
(CHW’s and CHNs as the other staff have a client load and may not be able to accommodate walk
in’s).

FRASER SALISH BIRTH DOULA PROGRAM

Are you willing to have an Indigenous Doula Student help with your birth?
Seabird College is training local Indigenous women to provide Doula support. Our goal is to
integrate Indigenous practice and certified Doula education. Please contact the Program

Sto:lo Nation holds a number of clinics on-site. Physicians and/or a Nurse Practitioner are
available at the following days and times:
Youth Health Centre: Tuesdays from 2 – 5 p.m. for all young people aged 12-26. No appointment
necessary. Services are free and open to anyone, regardless of whether they are Aboriginal or
not.
Primary Health Clinics: Monday to Thursday with Physicians onsite half days Monday through
Thursday and a full-time Nurse Practitioner Wednesday and Thursday. Primary Health Clinics are
by appointment only and can be accessed by calling the main switchboard or the direct clinic line
at (604) 824-3219 or toll free 1-844-827-2473.
