 Protective systems
One of the many specific tasks of the MSB is to develop and
support societal preparedness for the limiting of the
consequences of emergencies and disasters. To increase the

adapt the emergency response in accordance with their condition.
Equipment
 Tools and how to use them
 Personal protective equipment (PPE)
 Crash recovery system
To be able to do this in a proper medical and considerate way
requires knowledge, practical skills, patience, and common sense.
The fire service, the police, the ambulance service and others
must be bale to work together to achieve a satisfactory result.
Joint exercises and dialogue are needed so that all the
emergency services can learn about and understand each other’s
working methods and approach to their work.

Extrication from cars during road traffic accidents – highlights the
importance of extrication. First the various safety systems in cars
are presented, then the affect different types of car fuel can have
on the emergency response, road environment, equipment used
during an emergency response, and extrication in accordance
with a flow-chart. The book concludes with a section on the
measures that should be taken on completion of an emergency
response operation.

 Assessing the condition of casualties
 Choosing method of extrication
Post-emergency work
