September sees a visit to Witham by the legendary
Showaddywaddy and tickets are already selling well, so
book now to avoid disappointment. Before that we are
welcoming Essex’s very own Dr Feelgood who will take to
the stage in June. At the back of the guide you will find
advance notice of a great concert scheduled for December
when we see the return of The Blues Band following last
year’s sell out concert – another one to book early!
As if all that isn’t enough we will be holding our first
Summer Music Festival in July and our annual Real Ale
Festival in September

Cofunds, Witham’s biggest employer, is once again teaming up with us and Tesco
Witham to present an afternoon tea dance. Music will be provided by Jeff Short
and his Musicians, perfect for those who like to have a dance and those who
prefer to sit and watch.
The low admission charge of just £5 includes refreshments.

Celebrating Dean Martin’s Centenary
A special matinee show featuring Jeff Short and his
Musicians in a relaxing show with Dino’s greatest hits.
Starting out as a double act with Jerry Lewis, through
his recording career at Capitol and Reprise Records, to
his NBC Television Variety Show, Dean Martin was one
of the 20th century's greatest entertainers. Songs
include Memories Are Made Of This, That's Amore and
Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime.

into a full-scale Rolling Stones concert, leaving
audiences thrilled with their portrayal of the
biggest rock & roll band in the world. Performing
the music of the Rolling Stones faithfully and

A Special Charity Concert
in aid of
University student Rosie Sims has organised this
concert in memory of her grandfather who died last
year due to a brain tumour.
She promises a great night full of terrific music and
entertainment and, of course, all the money will be
going to a very worthwhile cause.

This band has been touring the Rock'n'Roll
scene for nearly 20 years now, playing clubs
and music events. They come with an edgy
rocking sound which will delight rock’n’roll
fans, playing many of the standards and
some self-penned material. This evening will
be a true rockin’ night.
The Essex legend that is Dr Feelgood come
to the Public Hall! Formed on Canvey Island
in the early 1970s, Dr Feelgood remains one
of the most popular and exciting live rhythm and blues acts in the world. The
current line up features Kevin Morris on drums and Phil Mitchell on bass (both
33 years), Steve Walwyn on guitar (26 years), and Robert Kane, formerly of the
Animals, the most recent addition – joining in 1999.

An afternoon trip down memory lane
with Simply Swing. This 10 piece band
will not only take you back in time
musically but visually too. You will be
treated to performances by three
vocalists performing songs of Peggy Lee,
Bobby Darin, Harry Connick Junior,
Michael Bublé and of course ole Blue
eyes himself, Frank Sinatra.

Henry is a successful playwright married to
Charlotte who has the lead role in his latest play
about adultery. Her co-star, Max, is married to
Annie, another actress. Annie and Henry are
madly in love but is it any more real than the
subjects of Henry’s play?
Tom Stoppard's brilliant, award-winning play of
surprise and deftly witty comparison was
premiered at London's Strand Theatre in 1982
starring Roger Rees and Felicity Kendal and
revived in 1999.

Funky Voices, Essex and Suffolk’s largest modern community choir, are celebrating
their 10th year by holding a charity concert in aid of Southview Special Needs

The band has recently been touring Europe with a string of gigs coming up in
the UK. Also on the bill is top UK Hillbilly and Western Swing DJ John Macleod to

The Horticultural Society meets on the second Monday of the month and

the Town Hall in Newland Street, Witham.
All of the public areas, with the exception of the balcony, are fully wheelchair accessible.
However, the number of wheelchair spaces varies depending on the seating layout so
please check in advance.

WOW Summer Schools
WOW will be running two week-long (Monday-Friday) Summer Schools in August. The
first is for 8 – 13 year-olds and runs from 7th – 11th, the second is for those aged 13 to 21
and runs from 14th – 18th. Both weeks will cover various aspects of performance and will
culminate in a showcase performance on the Friday. The classes run from 9.00 a.m to
5.00 p.m. and cost £125 per week per child. A £25 deposit is required to secure a place. To
