2017 Manitoba Young Horse Championships March 26 to April 1ST 2017 Over $5000.00 in CASH & Prizes to be Awarded New! Six Year Old Division! Showcasing Canadian bred young horses destined to become tomorrow’s top hunter and jumper stars. Three divisions are offered for Canadian bred 4 & 5 & 6 year old horses. Each division offers 4 classes – conformation, under saddle, hunter & jumper. The horses can compete in any or all classes in each division & are awarded points & prizes for placing in each class. The horse with the most accumulated points in each division is the Champion 4, 5 or 6 yr old. These classes are offered at the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair and are open to any registered Canadian bred horse. The overall high point horse in each division will be awarded the title of Young Horse Champion along with an embroidered stable blanket. The Reserve Champion in each division will be awarded the title of Young Horse Reserve Champion plus an embroidered stable blanket. Awards will be too given to the breeders of the Champion horse in each division. Cash prizes are also awarded in each class. No ponies. A copy of the registration papers MUST be presented with entry and reflect that the horse is Canadian bred. No pending registrations allowed. Open to all riders. All entries must be registered with a breed organization or registry. DIVISION ENTRY FEE - $125.00 per horse. Horses entered must stay until the end of the show on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Registered 4 year old Canadian bred, foaled in Canada, suitable to become a sport horse – defined as a horse that is capable of excelling in the hunter, jumper, dressage or eventing disciplines. Will be judged 50% for movement and 50% for conformation/type. Horses will enter the ring at the walk, trot on the rail, and be lined up by the ringmaster. Handler should be in suitable riding attire. Horses shown in bridle. No whip person allowed. UNDER SADDLE CLASS –Horse to be shown at a walk, trot, canter; to stand quietly. Only eight (8) horses to canter at one time. Horses to enter ring at a walk. HUNTER SUITIBILIY CLASS – Hunter over fences – to be judged on the potential hunter horse. Horse must show an easy, relaxed way of going, showing a bascule and good form over fences. Faults and refusals affect placings 4 yr. old Hunter class – jumps maximum height 2’6” JUMPER SUITABILITY CLASS – This class is to be judged on the potential jumper horse.
