MISSION
The main purpose of the Veterans Education and Transition
Services is to certify enrollment of those veterans and their
dependents using veteran’s educational benefits and to
provide timely and accurate information on various VA
related issues to our CSN veteran students. The CSN
Veterans Educational Center works as a liaison between the
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and students enrolled at
CSN.

Chapter 30
Montgomery GI Bill
The Montgomery GI Bill — Active Duty (MGIB) states that active duty
members forfeit $100 per month for 12 months; if they use the
benefits, they receive as of 2012[update] $1564 monthly as a full-time
student (tiered at lower rates for less-than-full-time) for a maximum of
36 months of education benefits. This benefit may be used for degree
and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job
training and correspondence courses if the veteran is enrolled full-time.

Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment
(VR&E) Program
The Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) Program assists
Veterans with service-connected disabilities to prepare for, find, and
keep suitable jobs. For Veterans with service-connected disabilities so
severe that they cannot immediately consider work, VR&E offers
services to improve their ability to live as independently as possible.

Post 9/11 GI Bill
The New Post-9/11 GI Bill offers a new set of benefits for service
members and veterans attending education and training programs
taken at an accredited college or university. The new benefits include
up to 100% tuition and fees (paid directly to the school)for public instate institutions and, for the 2012-2013 academic year, up to
$18,077.50 for private/foreign institutions (paid directly to the school),
a monthly living/housing stipend, up to $1,000 a year for books and
supplies, and more.

Survivors' and Dependents' Educational
Assistance Program (DEA)
The Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance Program (DEA)
provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of
veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a servicerelated condition, or who died while on active duty or as a result of a
service related condition. The program offers up to 45 months of
education benefits. These benefits may be used for degree and
certificate programs, apprenticeship, and on-the-job training. Spouses
may take correspondence courses

Montgomery G.I. Bill — Selected Reserve
(MGIB-SR)
The Montgomery G.I. Bill — Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR) program may
be available to members of the Selected Reserve, including all military
branch reserve components as well as the Army National Guard and Air
National Guard. This benefit may be used for degree and certificate
programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training and
correspondence courses.

Reserve Educational Assistance Program
(REAP)
The Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP) is available to all
reservists who, after September 11, 2001, complete 90 days or more of
active duty service "in support of contingency operations." This benefit
provides reservists return from active duty with up to 80% of the active
duty (Chapter 30) G.I. Bill benefits as long as they remain active
participants in the reserves.

Licensure Reciprocity
Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and
Career Training (TAACCCT) Grant
• $1.7 million to create programs that focus on
education and career training in Computer
Information Technology (CIT), Business Administration
and Practical Nursing (LPN).
• 16 Weeks, 15 credit hours
• Eligibility to sit for the National Council Licensure
Examination, also known as the NCLEX, to become a
Licensed Practical Nurse.
