Carrissa’s Commentary
Meet Carrissa. She’s been coming out to AIA for the first time this year
and wanted a chance to tell you about her experience. “My story of coming to faith is different than most and started out of a series of events
that left me feeling less than supportive of
the Christian faith. The summer of 2012 I

felt the welcoming and understanding nature she has. When I began to

through faith, she modeled the teachings of Jesus in such a genuine and
positive way; I was drawn to know more. When she started sharing
about Athletes in Action, I knew it would be something that I
could connect with and understand. Though I am not on a varsity team the depth of topics can be universally applied to life
and those in every age and stage in faith. Everyday I grow in my faith and am able to see the
ways in which God is working in my life and the
lives for people around me. Now being apart of
AIA for the past couple months, I have been
able to learn so much about what it means to
connect God to every part of my life, how to
lead bible studies and how to facilitate discussions about faith in sport. Jess and I have had
the opportunity to meet once a week and go
through a workbook about coming to faith.
Through this I have been able to ask questions,
understand how God can work in my life, and
what it means to truly accept Jesus in life. My
story gives me the ability to connect with those
just coming to faith or those with questions
about what it means to follow and live out the
teachings of Jesus. As I continue to work with
AIA I know I will learn more and grow deeper in
my faith and for that I can’t wait to continue next semester.”
Will you celebrate with us that God is powerfully at work on our
AIA team as Jessica disciples and builds into girls like Carrissa!
