SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
Papers include a ledger (1870) containing accounts with individuals and plantations in Tensas
Parish, Louisiana; Mayor's Record (1883-1908) that extends through the administrations of
Hartwig Moss, Joseph Gorton and Napoleon B. Hunter, mayors of Waterproof, Tensas Parish.
Entries are in consecutive order, and the charge, fine, or settlement of each case is shown.
Papers also contain records and printed material of the Order of the Knights of Pythias, Tensas
Lodge No. 84 (1888-1935) and the Woodmen of the World. These records are comprised of
correspondence, roster books, cashbooks, constitutions, annual reports, and programs of annual
