2017 SPRING WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS
Pursuant to Section 36 of the Highway Act, the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure imposes
weight restrictions on motor vehicles effective at 12:00 midnight, A.S.T., Sunday, March 5, 2017 in
Southern New Brunswick, as described below and effective at 12:00 midnight, A.S.T. Sunday, March
12, 2017 in Northern New Brunswick, as described below, and continuing until 12:00 midnight, A.S.T.
Sunday, May 14, 2017 for Southern New Brunswick and midnight, A.S.T. Sunday, May 21, 2016 for
Northern New Brunswick, on highways which are under the control and jurisdiction of the Minister in
the Province of New Brunswick, as listed below:
The final date for removal of Spring Weight Restrictions is conditional upon weather conditions and
temperature and is therefore subject to change.
1. For the purpose of these restrictions, Southern New Brunswick is described as all that area lying
within the Counties of Kent, Westmorland, Albert, Saint John, Kings, Queens, Sunbury, Charlotte,
Carleton and York County, except that portion of Route 108 within York County, and that portion of
Gordon Vale Road and Holtville Road within York County, and that portion of Route 123 within
Sunbury County and Queens County , and that portion of Bloomfield Ridge Road between Holtville
Road and Route 625, and that portion of Route 625 between Gordon Vale Road and Route 8.
2. For the purpose of these restrictions, Northern New Brunswick is described as all that area lying
within the Counties of Northumberland, Gloucester, Restigouche, Madawaska, Victoria and the portion
of Route 108 within York County, and that portion of Gordon Vale Road and Holtville Road within York
County, and that portion of Route 123 within Sunbury County and Queens County , and that portion of
Bloomfield Ridge Road between Holtville Road and Route 625, and that portion of Route 625 between
Gordon Vale Road and Route 8.
3. Highways exempt from Spring Weight Restrictions and on which axle weights, as specified in
Regulation 2001-67 as amended from time to time made under the Motor Vehicle Act Chapter M 17
RSNB 1997, will be permitted, and are as follows:

5. On all other highways in the Province not listed in Items 3 and 4 of this Notice, vehicles may be
operated with each axle weight not exceeding eighty percent (80%) of the axle weights, as specified in
Regulation 2001-67 as amended from time to time made under the Motor Vehicle Act, Chapter M 17,
provided that each axle weight does not exceed that upon which the registered vehicle weight of the
vehicle is based.
6. Should extensive deterioration occur on any highway, the Minister of Transportation and
Infrastructure or someone authorized to act on his behalf, may reduce the allowable axle load or close
the highway to all trucking by posting such notice to this effect.
7. Passenger buses and the following service vehicles are exempt from these restrictions :
(a) a wrecking or tow truck when stopped at the scene of an accident
or returning from the scene of an accident with a damaged vehicle in
tow,
(b) any private or public utility corporation vehicle while engaged at the scene
of repair work,
(c) snow removal equipment when engaged in snow removal operations.
8. Vehicles found to have an axle, or axle group or gross weight exceeding that prescribed in these
restrictions shall not be permitted to proceed until all axle weights of the vehicle are within the limits
prescribed above, either by redistribution of load or by off-loading onto another vehicle.
9. There will be no additional axle weight or vehicle weight allotted, in excess of the limits prescribed
above, during the period these restrictions are in effect.
10. The Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure reserves the right to change any of these
restrictions at any time. These restrictions can be put in place sooner if weather conditions warrant.
11. These restrictions will be strictly enforced.
12. This notice supersedes any previous "Notice to Truckers" in regard to 2016 Spring Weight
Restrictions.
