The Wee County - Golf In Variety
Alloa
The seven golf courses of Clackmannanshire offer golf
in variety - 9 holes, 18 holes, parkland and hillside,
bunkered and bunker free. By all means pay attention
to your game but “Look Aboot Ye” too, there are
spectacular views to be enjoyed.
The three hillside courses of Alva, Tillicoultry and
Dollar are built close to small communities and nestle
at the foot of the Ochils. Although generally shorter in
length the small greens and sloping fairways provide a
challenging but fair test of golf.
The remaining four courses at Alloa, Braehead,
Muckhart and Tulliallan are parkland in nature. Their
quality has been recognised by the fact that they have
hosted National Championship events on several
occasions.
Clackmannanshire is well situated, being within one
hour’s drive of Edinburgh and Glasgow. The golfing
visitor can use the area as a base to travel to many
Scottish golfing gems. Gleneagles, venue for the 2014
Ryder Cup, is no more than 45 minutes just over the
hills. St Andrews and Loch Lomond are within easy
reach.
