Experiment: Common Landforms in the United
States (E. Science 9-6-1 c)
Purpose: To become familiar with some of the
different kinds of landforms that one might see if
they were to travel across the USA.

Results:
1. Each landform can be classified into one of the
: three general groups: mountains, plains, or
plateaus. Within these general groups, many
different types of landforms exist. The List on the
left contains well known landforms or landscape
features of the USA Match the name with the
appropriate description on the right. (As you match
each of the landforms you may want to label each on the map
on the back side of this lab - or do allthe labeling after).

2. This map shows the location of some of the major landforms across the United States. Using the list
from the front side of this lab. study the map and write the name of the correct landform in each space
provided. All landforms from the front side of the lab will be used with one exception. Great Lakes will be
divided into each of the Great Lakes (.I:!uron, Ontario. Michigan, Erie, ~uperior) (First letters spell
HOMES), and one addition: Ozark Plateau. (Appendix H will help)
