EYESPOT APPARATUSES THE EYES OF THE CELL What is an Eyespot Apparatus? ● A Green Organelle Found in Photosynthetic Unicellular Organisms ○ Like This Algae Cell ● Its Primary What Does ItFunction Do? is to Capture Light ○ Draws Phototaxis Organisms to Light ○ Repels Non-Phototaxis Organisms away from light What Does It do? Some Helpful Pictures These are the flagellates which the eyespots are located. The approxim ate area of one is 1 µm2 Lipid rich globeulols. This was taken by a transmission electron microscope The thylakoid membrane. Other Than Eyes, What Else Are They Like? I think of the eyespots as antennas of any ship in battle. They can tell where good light or "signals" are and where bad "signals" are. The good signals would symbolize light for a phototaxis organism and bad signals would be light to a nonphototaxis organism. http://www.green-planet-solar-energy.com/algae-biodiesel.html http://www.lightingpictures.net/light-energy/ http://va3qv.wordpress.com/tag/tak-tenna/ http://www.zellbio.nat.uni-erlangen. de/English/research/kreimer/index.shtml http://carlvstheworld.blogspot.com/2010/02/slide-showbibliography.html Hi My Name is Simmons Bibliography!!!
