KRESS-elektrik Recognised As Most Innovative Brand Dieter C. Kress receives the Plus X Award in Cologne / New 360 BPS BiPower pneumatic hammer is the electric power tool of the year Bisingen/Cologne, Germany, 11 May 2012. Headquartered in Bisingen, Germany, electric power tool manufacturer Kress received the Plus X Award in Cologne on Thursday. With this award, Kress is recognised as the most innovative brand. At the same event, the organisers of the world's largest innovations award also selected the new Kress 360 BPS BiPower pneumatic hammer as the electric power tool of the year. It is the world’s first device of its kind offering cordless and corded operation. The 130-member international jury of the Plus X Award was convinced that Kresselektrik is today's most innovative developer and manufacturer in its area of specialisation. This is why they presented the German company with the highest recognition – the “Most Innovative Brand Award” in the electric power tools product group. The highest marks for quality, design, functionality and handling were also given to the 360 BPS BiPower pneumatic and chisel hammer, which Kress had only introduced to the market in March. The newly developed tool was thus recognised as the electric power tool of the year. The award ceremony took place Thursday evening in Cologne at a gala hosted by the television station Anixe. In front of more than 300 guests from the realms of business, politics and media, company owner Dieter C . Kress personally accepted the award. This puts him in the same rank as world famous inventors such as Sir James Dyson, the developer of the Dyson vacuum cleaners, and Dr Amar G. Bose, the founder of the loudspeaker brand Bose. Both are recipients of the Plus X Award. The Plus X Award is sponsored by several publishing houses and media operations. They aim to support the performance of brand manufacturers. The jury consists of 130 specialised journalists and sector experts from 32 nations. With an investment volume of 25 million euros, the Plus X Award is currently the world's largest innovation competition for technology, sports and lifestyle, according to its organisers. For the past nine years, the jury has been awarding seals of quality to products that offer at least one added advantage. Recognised are new technologies, unconventional designs, intelligent operation and ecological characteristics. Independent test instances such as the TÜV Süd participate in the selection of the best products. With the award-winning 360 BPS BiPower, Kress is the first electric power tool manufacturer to combine cordless and corded operation in one device for professional applications. The innovative pneumatic and chisel hammer can be operated with DC current from the battery or AC current from the mains. The 360 BPS BiPower contains a rechargeable 36 volt lithium-ion battery – the first in this performance class with 3.5 Ah capacity. In cordless mode you can move around with the machine and work flexibly. The charge display on the battery informs you about the available capacity at all times. For uninterrupted long-term use, and to May 2012 -1- recharge the device, all you have to do is connect the power cord. The integrated charger recharges the battery while the machine is in operation. Enforced breaks to change the battery and waiting times are no longer necessary. With a fully-charged battery the 360 BPS BiPower pneumatic and chisel hammer can drill up to 272 holes of 6 x 40 mm into concrete. As a result, the BiPower can drill up to 100 per cent more holes with a fully-charged battery than comparable devices from the competition. One reason for this high capacity is the brushless motor, which uses energy more efficiently than normal brushed motors. Kress has also tested the drilling speed in practice. The combination of the brushless motor and an efficient hammer mechanism makes the 360 BPS BiPower up to 35 per cent faster than comparable devices from this performance category, depending on the hole diameter: it can drill an 8-millimetre hole with a speed of 600 mm/min. The battery sits centrally, in the centre of gravity of the 4.9 kg pneumatic hammer. This ensures that the device is ergonomically well-balanced and reduces vibrations. Damping elements in the handles provide extra relief to ensure fatigue-free work. When hammer drilling the vibrations are 9.4 m/s2 measured in accordance with Directive 2002/44/EC – another benchmark on the market. The control electronics guarantee a constant rotational speed even when in use. The 360 BPS BiPower controls the rotational speed up to 850 revolutions per minute and the stroke rate up to 4,500 strokes per minute. The impact energy is 2.9 joules (measured according to EPTA 05/2009). With a synchronised one-button switch you can change between the operating modes, drill, pneumatic and chisel. The 360 BPS BiPower is suitable for pneumatic drilling in concrete up to a diameter of 26 mm, and for drilling holes in steel of up to 13 mm and in wood up to 30 mm. Masonry can be processed with hollow drill bits of up to 68 mm diameter. The gear unit is placed in an indestructible magnesium die-cast housing. The QuiXS tool holder from Kress makes it easier to switch quickly between the SDS-plus and the quick-release drill chuck. The scope of delivery includes the machine, a battery pack, the two-component soft handle with drill depth gauge, a four-metre power cord with a cord module, lubricant and professional carry case. Kress has been offering a two year guarantee for lithiumion batteries since the beginning of 2012. The pneumatic hammer itself is offered with a 10 year guarantee, which is unique in the industry.
