Dear folks

Soon you will be coming to Berlin to
experience a joint multinational youth
camp with young people and group leaders
from France, Spain, Bulgaria, Italy and Germany. During the camp we
will have four groups with participants from all the participating
countries. Group leaders from other nationalities may be responsible for
you. This will be a new experience for you and the group leaders, but
this ensures the camp to be fascinating and unique. However, this
requires your active participation. Take the opportunity and learn more
about your group members from the other countries. Have fun and make
new friends. Your group leaders will give you all necessary information
you need and will always have time for your smaller and bigger problems. In any doubt you
can also contact your national group leader for assistance and help.
Enclosed some important information:
Luggage
To ensure you have everything you need, please pack your personal belongings by
yourself. That way you know best which things belong to you. Nametags on bags or
tagging of your clothes with a laundry marker will help you to find your
belongings on the day of departure!
Money
From experience we suggest an amount of 100 Euro of pocket money. In order to
avoid theft we will collect the money and keep it safe in a cashbox. Of course you can
get the money from us at any time.
Clothes
Light summer clothing is advisable. Due to heat and sun you should take a hat along
with you. Please, don’t forget rainwear, good shoes, swimming gear and sport shoes
and clothing! It’s also recommended to take some warm clothes because the evenings
might be rather cold.
Language and Communication
Camp language will be English and surely you will get along best with it. Speaking in
your own language is not polite to other group members. It is always helpful to know
some words of the host country. Therefore you will get a small “phrasebook”.
Some rules already…
1. Drugs are absolutely taboo! Should somebody be caught carrying or consuming drugs,
his/her parents will have to come to Berlin to pick him/her up immediately, even on
the very last day of the youth camp.
2. Things such as buddy theft, shoplifting, “snooping around”, radicalism or violence
against others will not be tolerated and result in the same consequences as above.
3. Consuming alcoholic beverages will be strictly forbidden during the whole camp
duration.
4. In order to avoid unnecessary searching your group leader should always know where
you are in the camp area. Especially if you want to leave the camp area for some
shopping you have to report that to the responsible group leader (never alone, always
in groups of several)! A briefing will be given at the beginning of the camp.
5. Bundeswehr-Sozialwerk cannot be held responsible for theft, loss or damages.
Therefore we recommend you to take only “simple” cameras, tape players/cd-players
or other electronic devices.
