Population at Ward Level

Understanding
Bradford District
Ward population update
30 Nov 2015
Trends in population data for Bradford District
Between 2013 and 2014 Bradford’s population increased by 1,800 people (0.3%) to 528,200. This
growth was driven by ‘natural change’ – there were more births than deaths, but this total was
significantly reduced by more people leaving Bradford for other parts of the country than coming to
live here.
The median age (the age at
which half the population is
younger and half is older) for
Bradford is 34.
This is younger than the
national median age of 40
and equal youngest with
Leeds for West Yorkshire.
Within the District, City ward
has the lowest median age –
24 – which reflects the large
number of students living in
the ward and Ilkley had the
highest – 47.
