Change4Life Sports Clubs Celebration Handbook Change4Life

Change4Life Sports Clubs
Celebration Handbook
The Family Challenge
Welcome to your
Change4Life Sports Club
celebration handbook...
Primary Change4Life Sports Clubs are unique! They
are being delivered by primary schools right across the
country and having great success in engaging less active
children in positive physical activity and we think that
should be celebrated!!
Following a fantastic summer of sport we are challenging
Change4Life Sports Clubs to take the ‘Family Challenge’
in primary schools! This will involve planning and
organising a celebration event or festival that captures
everything that is great about your Change4Life Sports
Club and using it to engage Families.
Schools have been telling us that the best thing about
the clubs is the opportunity it creates to get Parents,
grandparents and carers involved. So we are challenging
schools to SHOUT about their success, bring to life the
achievements of each Change4Life Sports Club and the
young people in them and share that with the people
that support them at home.
a bit about celebration
events...
Take some time to reflect on your own club. Is it exciting? Who
knows what goes on in the club and is there a way you can
celebrate the good things and involve Parents, grandparents and
carers? Inside this handbook you will find a few ideas about
running a celebration event or festival, who you will need on your
team and how it could help your young people get involved with
other opportunities like the Sainsbury’s School Games. For more
information and be able to win some great prizes for your primary
school go to www.change4lifesportsclubs.org
We have come up with some suggestions to help you plan and deliver
your very own celebration event. It could be that you run something
just in your school or maybe get together with other clubs around
you and have one big event!
Take the time to read through the handbook and check out further
information at www.change4lifesportsclubs.org And don’t forget to
TELL US ABOUT IT and win lots of goodies for your school. There is
a simple form to fill out and send to us on the website.
So go on...dive in and remember to have fun!

I bet there are some young people in your school who would love to
referee a game or two. If you haven’t got them in your school try asking
the secondary school PE department to see if there are some young
officials that could help out.
Top tips
You can’t do it without them!! Every great event has a team of ‘roadies’
and your event is no different. Make sure they’re rewarded in the same
way as the rest of the team.

Change4Life Sports Clubs have been designed to link
to the Sainsbury’s School Games at Level 1 (intra)
and Level 2 (inter) school competition: personal
challenge activities in the Clubs are very similar to competitive activities
as part of the Games. You might therefore wish to run your celebration
event or festival at the same time as your Sainsbury’s School Games Level
1 and 2 events. This will help the young people feel part of something
bigger and aid their transition into becoming a regular participant.
Visit www.yourschoolgames.com for guidance, NGB sports formats
and ideas on how to deliver Change4Life Sports Clubs alongside
the Sainsbury’s School Games.
