A Future of Possibilities
From the President...
D
Sister Jeanne McGowan, SSJ
ear Friends,
As the school year draws to a close, I am humbled by the overwhelming support we have received and I am
energized by the prospects for the future of La Salle Academy. It is a future filled with hope for alumni,
current students and the young neighborhood children who will enter our doors in need of a brighter tomorrow. Because of the dedicated efforts of our faculty and the unceasing support of our benefactors and
donors, the future sustainability of La Salle Academy is strong and promising. I truly believe that the Holy
Spirit drives our efforts every day and the results are a living miracle.
In just the past few months, three fundraising events have been held to benefit our school and each one underscored the
willingness and determination of many people to support the mission of La Salle Academy. Beginning with the lovely,
steadfast support of the ladies at the Garden Party Fashion Show, followed by the enthusiastic turnout at the Beef and
Beer, and ending with the generous results of our banner event, Inspiring Hope, Achieving Success, I could not be more
grateful.
The most beautiful part of our mission is that it invites support in a variety of ways. In addition to the financial support
gained through the fundraisers, we are especially thankful for the corporate support through the EITC. We are also
blessed with caring volunteers who give countless hours to benefit the students, as well as student alumni who will carry
LSA in their hearts forever.
As I write this letter, our first 8th grade graduates from 2008 are donning their high school caps and gowns and readying
themselves for a future of possibilities. We are proud that 87% will be attending post secondary education (college, community college, technical school and the Navy). I ask God to keep their journey safe and grounded in faith and the foundation laid at La Salle Academy.
Gratefully Yours,
By the numbers...

From the Principal...
Ms. Teresa Diamond
When you're down and troubled and you need a
helping hand and nothing, whoa, nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me and soon
I will be there to brighten up even your darkest nights.
T
hese lyrics are from “You’ve Got a Friend”, a song
written by Carole King and made famous by James
Taylor in 1971. Our 8th graders chose this as their graduating
theme song because the timeless words reflect the spirit of their class.
The song speaks to the importance of friends and the positive impact
they can have on someone’s life. The LSA Class of 2012 is a living
example of these words, always caring for each other and showing
genuine consideration for the feelings of their classmates and of others. I have witnessed tremendous growth and maturity in this class
since each student walked through the doors. Whether an LSA student since 3rd grade or just since September, each one has shown a
commitment to learning, to caring, and to their improving their future. The class of 2012 truly live out the charisms of the Brothers
of the Christian Schools and the Sisters of St. Joseph as they work
together as “brothers (and sisters) to each other” so that all may be
one. I applaud them and pay tribute to the faculty and staff of La
Salle Academy who have nurtured and developed their unique talents, as well as the benefactors who have made it possible.
Gratefully yours,
Teresa Diamond
