Veterans Day: Medals and Merit Quiz
Before 1954, November 11 was Armistice Day, a federal holiday honoring veterans of World War I. Beginning in 1954, November 11 became Veterans Day, a holiday to honor all U.S. military veterans. Veterans have fought in many campaigns, and earned honors both in and out of combat. Below are the medals for four military honors that are no longer awarded.
