Coats aquamelt
Coats aquamelt is a staple spun poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) thread that has been specifically
developed to replace conventional basting or tacking threads in apparel manufacturing.
Conventional sewing threads used for basting or tacking operations hold in place or join one or
more fabric ply’s which are then (if visible) unpicked after a garment is complete.
The use of Coats aquamelt eliminates the need to unpick temporary stitching and also helps to
prevent damages that may occur to fabrics or seams while unpicking.
Main Uses:
• Basting waistband
• Neckline and armhole gathering stitch
• Hand and machine applique
• Pleat formation
• Line matching stitch
• Bias cut patterns
• Difficult fabric matching
