Dear Conference Attendees,
On behalf of the New Orleans Section of NACE International, I want to welcome you to New
Orleans and to the 2016 Central Area Conference. We are honored to be your hosts for the
next few days and hope that you will find your time here to be both beneficial and enjoyable.
Experts from throughout the region will be sharing their insights and experience with us during
the technical sessions. The exhibit hall will be filled with innovative companies who specialize
in meeting the needs of the corrosion control industry. However, it wouldn’t be New Orleans
without some lagniappe - with the world-famous French Quarter right outside the door, you will
get to experience some of the best dining and entertainment found anywhere! Just remember
to come by our own “Fat Tuesday” party, with the renowned Rebirth Brass Band as our musical
guests. We have worked to ensure that this week will be a memorable one; thank you for visiting
our beloved city and for your participation in this year’s Central Area Conference.
Sincerely,
2016 Central Area Conference Chair
Ben Carpenter

Anotec Industries, Ltd.
Anotec’s special chill cast process was conceived in 1987 when it’s founding principals discovered
how to cast high silicon iron anodes in static metal molds successfully. The company began
production in July 1987 and the results verified expectations that the quality was superior
manufacturing silicon iron anodes this way. Perfecting the process was very challenging, making it
difficult for others to copy, but worth the persistent effort. By 1989, Anotec was producing tubular
center connected “Centertec” anodes with unique features, including a tapered connection seat
and epoxy sealant retention grooves, which are not available in conventional centrifugally cast
tubular anodes. During its first decade, Anotec prospered by focusing on quality products and
exemplary service through premium distributors worldwide. Anotec’s immense user list attests
to the world-wide acceptance and reliability of Anotec anodes. In 1996, Anotec purchased land
and a 15,000 square foot facility in the City of Langley, British Columbia, Canada. The new facility
is conveniently located near major highways, rail terminals and the Port of Vancouver, one of the
busiest in North America, ideally situated for Pacific Rim and world container trade. In December
1998, Anotec received ISO 9001 certification and has built on it’s Quality Management System
over the years while expanding its global reach.
Eben Junkin Award
Jack Howard Goodwyn III
As a life-long San Antonio resident, Jack’s corrosion work began in the early 1960’s with his father’s
business. With humble beginnings, Jack and his father managed a small sandblasting and paint
company protecting water tanks, sewage treatment plants, and industrial painting. Jack joined
NACE in January 1967 while at the University of Texas and has remained active on a continuing
basis throughout the years. Jack was a driving force for NACE International in the 1970s, serving
as Treasurer, Secretary, and Vice-chair of the “NACE Alamo Section”. In addition, he has a varied
work experience in the coating and inspection field and 25 years in architecture and project
management. Finally, in 2010, the new “NACE San Antonio Section” was started and Jack served
as their Treasurer from 2010 to 2014.
