SPECIAL FEATURE
Nishen Jaikissoon
The following story was printed in the Northglen News on 27 March 2017. Nishen was an invaluable member of our Marshall family,
and we feel his great loss. Our love and support goes out to those closest to him.
Tributes pour in for Marshall Security officer
Nishen Jaikissoon (38), a long serving member of the company, died in his sleep on Sunday.
Tributes have begun pouring in for Nishen Jaikissoon, a Marshall Security officer who passed away over the weekend. The 38-yearold died in his sleep on Sunday. Jaikissoon, a husband and father of three was well-known in the North Durban community. He was
due to be promoted to Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team (SOT) this week. His funeral was held in Verulam today.
Tyron Powell of Marshall Security, said he and staff members were devastated to hear of Jaikissoon’s passing. Powell said Jaikissoon,
who was held in high esteem, also had the honour of winning the most Shield Awards. The award is handed out by the company to
patrol officers who secured the most arrests every quarter.
“He was so dedicated and such an awesome guy. He was always willing to help anyone and was incredibly humble. He was steadfast
in his fight against crime and was committed to the community’s well-being.
“He started as a reaction officer in 2012 before moving on to be a reaction officer supervisor. I actually had a chat to him last week
about joining our Special Operations Team. It was with a heavy heart that we learned of his passing on Sunday. Our deepest sympathies go out to the Jaikissoon family, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this terrible time,” he said.

MEET MARSHALL
SPOTLIGHT ON: TRACEY MAGGOTT
Official Title/Position
Human Resource Officer
How long have you worked for Marshall Security?
1 month, 6 days – I’m a newbie :)
What did you do today?
Various H.R-related duties, how much space do you have :)
Why do you do what you do?
I enjoy the HR aspects involved.
What do you think makes Marshall Security different?
I have found the Company to be professional, ethical, efficient and willing to go the extra mile for its staff and clients. There is
a great team of individuals in each of the various departments, and it’s a family-orientated company.
Best part of the job?
Very difficult to specify one, I really do enjoy all aspects of my job as they are varied - so it’s never mundane or monotonous.
A little background information / what did you do before Marshall Security?
I worked for the regulatory authority over the security industry for 18 years (PSIRA) conducting audits and investigations of
security service providers to ensure compliance with all the applicable legislation. I also did personal training at a private gym
on a part-time basis and studied nutrition.
Learnt anything that you didn’t know before you started? Again, I’m a newbie, so am learning a few things. I think it’s a
given that when a person starts employment at a new company they have to learn its corporate culture, its people and its
operational procedures as they are always different and unique.
Finish these sentences (for a little fun):
Who knew that a security company could be so… interested in staff’s health and welfare (e,g,: fitness and weight challenges)
I wasn’t expecting to see… such advanced technology to assist with efficient workflow and of course the family culture.
It’s amazing what you can do with... your imagination and a little creativity applied to your work
