NAME
YUKON HIGHWAYS LOG BOOK October 2008
The October 2008 Yukon Highways Log Book reflects substantial completion of the Shakwak reconstruction project and updating of
kilometre posts on the Alaska Highway between km 1636.6, Silver Creek, and km 1902.5, the Yukon\Alaska border.
For many years a correction factor has been required in order to calculate distance along the the Alaska Highway. The correction factor
reflected the shortening of the Alaska Highway due to reconstruction. With the grade reconstruction now completed, and the kilometer
markers reposted, the correction factor is no longer required within the Yukon Territory. Kilometer measurements are now continuous from
km 967.6 at the Yukon\BC border near Watson Lake through to km 1902.5 at the Yukon\Alaska border north of Beaver Creek.
For Historical reference, new kilometre posts were installed along the Alaska Highway from the BC/Yukon border to Champagne in October
of 2002, from Champagne to Silver Creek in September 2005, and from Silver Creek to the Alaska border in October 2008.
Also included in the log book lists of Yukon Highways and Roads sorted by road name and road number.
