Monday- Staff Development
Tuesday- Complete pre-test on Chapter 7, Lessons 1 – 9
(Expressions and Patterns). Introduce vocabulary words
from Chapter 7. Draw Teach Chapter 7, Lesson 1 (Hands
On: Numerical Expressions). Homework: My Math workbook pages 485-486.
Wednesday- Students will take a timed math fact test for a
daily grade. Read and understand the Order of Operations
Rules by using PEMDAS. Teach Chapter 7, Lesson 2 (Order
of Operations). Homework: My Math workbook pages 491492.
Thursday- Teach Chapter 7, Lesson 3 (Write Numerical Expressions). Students will work in small groups and use index cards to model the lesson. Homework: My Math workbook pages 497-498.
Friday- Teach Chapter 7, Lesson 4 (Problem Solving Investigation). Students will complete a written assessment by
writing a reflection of today’s lesson such as: what they
learned, what caused them difficulties, and/or what strategies they found helpful.
Science
Monday - Staff Development
Tuesday - Ch. 5, Lesson 1 "Minerals and Rocks" will be covered. We will read this lesson orally and students will fill out
their vocabulary sheet after we finish. Students will compare
and contrast the 3 kinds of rocks and analyze the Mohs
Hardness Scale. Each student will work page 59 in their Assessment workbook for homework.
Wednesday - Group activity on "Rocks & Minerals Task
Cards"; students will work in small groups to answer 28 task
card questions.
Thursday - There will be 2 different cold read passages
used today. The first is "Identifying Minerals" and the second
is "The Rock Cycle". (Students with a lexile level from 750
and below will use the second cold read and students at 751
and above will use cold read passage one.)
Friday - Lesson 2, "Soil" will be started today. Students will
read and discuss the layers of soil. Pages 128 - 131 in the
workbook will be started along with page 60 in the assessment book. (Finish on Monday)
