TEAS Entrance Exam Guide for 2017 VN Applicants
The Navarro College Regional Testing Centers, located in the Gooch One Stop Center (Corsicana
Campus) and Waxahachie Campus (Building A), will offer several opportunities to take the Test
of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). The test will be offered on scheduled dates each month.
Navarro College offers the lowest fee possible for Health Professions applicants. Payment is
made via credit card at the time of the exam. Approximate cost is $55. Applicants are allowed
a maximum of 2 attempts and the exam must be taken between March 1, 2016 and March 1,
2017.
The exam publisher is Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI). A Pre-Test Study Manual and
online practice test is available through ATI. Applicants may go to the ATI web site at
www.atitesting.com for further information including fees charged for the manual and practice
test items.
Hint: This is a timed test. Applicants should pace themselves to assure completion on time.
There will be about one minute allowed for each reading comprehension question. If the
applicant wishes to review their knowledge prior to taking the TEAS, they can find one of the
free on-line college entrance exam practice tests and start there. If the applicant has concerns
about the TEAS, it is suggested that they purchase a practice exam.
For the Vocational Nursing Program, the applicant must score within 7 points of the National
Norm (mean) (Current National Mean 66.9) for the Reading Comprehension portion of the
exam. The VN Program does not consider the scores for the Math, English Language, or Science
portions of the exam for ranking purposes.
Applicants should keep the original of their TEAS results and attach a copy of the first page of
the TEAS results to the “Request for an Application” (blue sheet).
